Did the CBC shortchange CFL fans?
Mon, August 20, 2007

After Mother Nature had knocked out the power at Regina's Mosaic Stadium, CBC's coverage of the Edmonton-Saskatchewan game disappeared.

When CBC got power back to its mobile production unit just before play resumed 58 minutes later, though, the broadcast was only beamed live into the Saskatchewan market on TV and through the internet - leaving fans steamed.

Asleep at the switch?

Sounds like the Maritimes got shafted (C. Laroque).

I didn't watch the game, but if it would have been a blowout either way, I can see skipping the end; but it was close.

I was so mad at CBC. I live on the Atlantic Coast and it was a billion o'clock in the morning but I was watching. I was so upset when the game came back on, but that freak'in movie was on instead of the game. I called people I knew back in Edmonton and they could at least listen on the radio. I also called people in Saskatoon and they were watching it live. How absolutely stupid can CBC be? I also later found out that they finally played the final quarter on Sunday night at midnight. Next thing you know they will hire Rod Black away from TSN to announce for them and then NOBODY will ever watch them again.

I may not be a fan of either team, but I do enjoy a good game IN ITS ENTIRETY. The CBC blew it big time with regards to this.

Someone and their supervisor should be looking for employment right now, this is a complete disgrace.

I know TSN will never pull crap like that especially when there is a delay like that.

I know I am not the only one that did not appreciate watching the game online with rather crappy quality.

Yet another stupid decision by the "people's broadcaster". Whether it is trying to broadcast the Brier over Country Canada, even debating whether to continue with Hockey Night in Canada, or cutting out of a CFL game b/cause someone couldn't make the right decision (had to check with someone above them to do their thinking for them), this is exactly what we get for our tax dollars.

CBC, to put it lightly, sucks. I am a Saskatchewan resident with Bell, and I could not find the game after the power outage, so I went online and watched it on CBC's tiny little on demand screen.

Somebody should be fired. It was a great game.

TSN would NEVER do this to its viewers.

That's what you get with a giant, bloated government station that could not care less about ratings or viewers as long as the government money keeps rolling on in. I am disgusted. If Corey Holmes wasn't coming back to Saskatchewan, I'd be having a really bad week right now.

I'm a huge Rider's Fan and currently live in Calgary. I was watching the game on CBC (Can't Broadcast Corporation) and was totally pissed off when CBC did not resume their coverage of the game after the storm delay. I have Bell Express VU and switched to every CBC station I had and even the CBC Edmonton did not resume the play. I had to call a family member and have them put the phone up to their radio to catch the post storm play.

If this was an NHL game that was delayed for a power outage the game would have been covered in it's entirety when play resumed. It's like following a movie and not being able to watch the end. I hear that TSN is the sole carrier of the CFL next year so I'm sure glad that I won't have to put up with this kind of coverage next year.......

Cheers to the 1st place Rider's....

Totally discouraged,
