Where will Forsberg end up?
Thu, August 30, 2007

The Toronto Maple Leafs may have a Swedish MAP line next season if everything works out well. That is a line of Mats, Alex and Peter, as in Sundin, Steen and Forsberg.

Now, this is not set in stone with hieroglyphs into the walls of the ACC, but it is still within the realm of possibilities.

Leafs eyeing Forsberg

At 2.5 million, I'd sign him in a second, even if he only plays half of the time. The guy is a proven winner, and the Sens need a guy with his heart and grit. He may not be what he once was, but he's still capable of lighting it up.
Ted Richards, 2007-08-15 19:53:22

The Sens are not a contending team they have proved that they are the biggest choke team, they have choked every year for the last ten years. Aquiring Forsberg will not give them a better shot at the cup he is injury prone and is not the player he once was.
Rod Davidson, 2007-08-15 13:26:28

Why would the Sens have to move anyone James? Forsberg is a UFA and the Sens have plenty of cap space to accommodate him. I agree they shouldn't overpay him - perhaps a contract with a high-end based upon results. But there's no question of needing to move anyone to make room. They are still one forward short, unless you count Foligno or Hennessy as a shoo-in for a roster spot.
George O'Leary, 2007-08-15 08:35:27

It would depend on who the Sens would have to move to make room for Forsberg's contract. I would not let Fisher or Vermette go for Forsberg, they have been solid players for a few years now and still have alot of good years left in them.

If the Sens can get Forsberg cheaply then iys a good move, anything over $ 2- $ 2.5 million a year is too much for. He isnt the players he once was that dominated the playoffs with the Avs. He would be a great second line centre playing with Alfredson, that would give the Sens 2 potent scoring lines.

A healthy Forsberg can help any team. His talent level and experience can do wonders to elevate the people around him.

But he has to stay healthy and this has proven to be difficult in recent years.

It's a crapshoot.

Peter Forsberg is worth a shot at a manageable price, half or less of what he was getting last year. This however does not address any of the Sens weaknesses in the playoffs. They need some grit and better goaltending.

Can Forsberg make the Sens Cup favourites?

They already are! Forsberg represents a risk, but what investment doesn't? He's worth said risk. Go get him, Bryan. Go Sens Go. Can't wait for the '08 season.

The only problem I would have is who has to go to make room for Peter? Mike Fisher who's contract is coming due next season? Chris Kelly, Antoine Vermette? 2 young players who have worked hard and earned their spots on the team and who's penalty killing services we would greatly miss. And which Peter Forsberg do we get on the team? the dominating player he was in Colorado or the often injured no show from Philly. I'd love the first scenario but hate to see us losing a proven and more reliable player for the second.
SensArmyDrone, 2007-08-14 15:36:21

Forsberg would certainly strenghten the Sens lineup. They would have the best top 4 forwards of any team in the NHL with Spezza, Heatley, Alfredson and Forsberg. That would be a awesome team to watch.

Go Sens Go

He is done Nashville made the same mistake got nothing out of him,Philly didn't get anything from him why waste your time and money for a guy who is done.He has not produced since Colorado and even they had the sense to know he was done and kept Sakic who has outplayed Forsberg the last four years.
