Was there a conflict of interest in Gass's arbitration?
Thu, August 30, 2007

If you listen closely, you can almost hear the cries of anti-Eskimos fans across the league.

Court of Queen's Bench Chief Justice Allan Wachowich - the arbitrator in A.J. Gass's case - is an Eskimos season ticket holder. But all parties involved with the case - the CFL and the CFL Players' Association - agreed to Wachowich being the arbitrator.

Gass's suspension thrown out

Yet, another example of the ABYSMAL state of Officiating in this league !!

In the same week I saw Dwight Anderson SUPLEX Stoddard into rehab - and another RECKLESS Kyries Hebert display ... THIS is what gets a SUSPENSION !!?? What a JOKE ...

That POOR HELMET must have screamed awfully loud to warrant this kind of REACTION.

The CFL has to do something about it's BUSH LEAGUE Officiating before fans like me start tuning out of the GREAT CANADIAN Game !!

Peace.

Terrible sportsmanship...very contradictory of what A.J. Gass is as a person and sportsman...A Fine is what is in order here, not a suspension. For the Stamps fan that is still envious of how Well respect Hugh Campbell is...Grow up!

personally, as a bomber fan, it doesn't bother me. what he did was against the rules and as a result he's paying the price. What he did was totally unnecessary and being a vet, he should have some better restraint.

That being said, I think the suplexes given by ferri and anderson to the bombers the last games definately seem to be more "harmful" then tossing a helmut, but tackling a guy to an extreme is obviously not as out of bounds as turning a solid object into a flying weapon. 1 game isn't the end of the world and so far what has Gass played 1.5 games in 6 games (will be 7) so it's not like edmonton hasn't gotten used to him not playing. obviously doesn't help your team when your stars aren't playing, but i hope the locker room lets Gass know that his selfishness may cost them plenty and he realizes that it's a team game and his personal emotions should be kept in check to avoid hurting the brothers around him.

There is no place in sport for that kind of unsportsmanship. Gass has always been a class act, however one game is outrageous.

I think it's appropriate. it's clear the Esk vets intimidate Macocia, he's scared to deal with them, so the league has to step in. Maybe payback for all the years that Campbell "ran" the league to EE benefits?
