Was there a conflict of interest in Gass's arbitration? Thu, August 30, 2007
If you listen closely, you can almost hear the cries of anti-Eskimos fans across the league.
Court of Queen's Bench Chief Justice Allan Wachowich - the arbitrator in A.J. Gass's case - is an Eskimos season ticket holder. But all parties involved with the case - the CFL and the CFL Players' Association - agreed to Wachowich being the arbitrator.
Very good point about being able to play while delaying the suspension. If Edmonton didnt have the injuries they do he would have served it 2 weeks ago.
Injuries are part of the game no one can control so Gass shouldnt be able to manipulate the system for his own personal / team needs. The team has to suck it up and play with whatever players are healthy period.
The last few years Gass has turned into a loose cannon on the field taking stupid penalties at critical times during the game and costing his team wins.

I think that the ejection and the suspension were appropriate and I don’t think that he should have gotten to play until his appeal was heard -If you drink and drive and appeal the charge you don’t drive until appeal heard. He could have hurt the player whose helmet he ripped from his head. He is a total embarrassment to the CFL.

He definitely deserves a game, but no more. It was a dumb move on his part, but he's prone to rages like that. It makes you wonder why...

Tell Gass to stop being such a baby. It's time to take his "medicine." He went against the rules, and if he is made an exception to this rule, then the next person who does something so childish will expect one also.
Come on, Gass, take it like a man.

Time to hit these types in the Pocket Book a plenty and make it general knowledge so we know it has been done

I also saw that game last year when Gass kicked Ralph when he was down on the ground, defenceless to protect himself.
Gass is a dangerous player that sometimes crosses the line between hard nosed football and dirty school ground football.
He takes foolish penalties that always seem to hurt his team, in this case it cost his team a win they really needed.
Football is a contact violent sport where emotions run high, but you need to be able to control yourself which Gass doesnt always seem able to do.

Gass a class person ? Last year in a game in Hamilton he kicked Brock Ralph while he was down on the ground. If thats your definition of a class guy the yea ok then.
He is a hot head and deserves a 1 game suspension.

I'm an Esk's fan and the bottom line is that this guy is an idiot. He cost the team the game against Calgary and it could come back to haunt them at the end of the year if Calgary makes the playoffs by 2 points and Edmonton does not. It's not like this is the first time that he's done something stupid like this. If Danny M was smart he'd be planning on how to replace this guy ASAP and then waive him. Hey Gass, this is professional football not peewee football so wuit acting like your 10 years old. Sorry to all of you 10 year olds as I did not mean to berate you like that just trying to make a point.

How about him touble teaming the Calgary player; and ripping it off his head. It all ads up to one big blunder. As for the other incidents this week; the officiating in the CFL is worse than Bush League. The refs are INEPT and its time for a new generation to take over. Tired of seeing the same 4 head refs every week make the same unprofessional calls.

Give me a break; it may have been one of the more flagrant examples of unsportsmanlike conduct I've seen in a while but give his team a 25 yard penalty and him a decent fine. It was iffy as to whether he should have gotten ejected from the game - it's not as if he even punched or hurt someone. A further full game suspension is really going way too far. I hope he appeals it, that way - as is most likely - he'll be out of the game against my Riders, rather than the Tabby-Cats....
