Can the Jays catch the Wild Card?
Tue, August 14, 2007

The newfound optimism around the Toronto Blue Jays triggered by a season-best five-game winning streak proves that hope springs eternal, even amid the hard realities of baseball in August.

Fans on radio-call in shows pumped by the recent surge and sportscasters who should know better are calling them a contender again, a description that ignores the cold, hard facts the team is facing.

Streak puts Jays in chase

It will be a long hard battle for the Jays to make the playoffs but the slim chance of doing it is still there so optimism abounds.

The real question that no one seems to be addressing is that will M&M be this good next year. Will the sophmore jinx rear its ugly head for one or both of them. I think this has to be the year because the pitching now is the best it has been since the world series years.

Many of the front running teams have not faced the injury adversity the Jays have. If thier turn comes the Jays should be in.

Recall the melt down of the 87 Jays, it could happen again to someone else
