Have your say about Chris Benoit
Thu, September 13, 2007

Canadian Pro wrestler Chris Benoit suffered brain damage from his years in the ring that could help explain why he killed his wife, son and himself, a doctor who studied Benoit’s brain said Wednesday.

Steroid use also has lingered as a theory, since anabolic steroids were found in the home and tests conducted by authorities showed Benoit had roughly 10 times the normal level of testosterone in his system when he died.

My sincere and deepest condolences go out to the Benoit family. I have watched Chris wrestle over many years and now my children have watched him for some years and they were just crushed to hear the news. They cried as if they knew him and deep down I think they did. All I can say is you are now in the wrestling ring in the sky with your buddy Eddie. Chris and Eddie together again God Bless!

I heard on my local Edmonton Television Station that Benoit and his family perished today in his suburban home in Atlanta, Georgia.

I watched the RAW episode tonight, the 3 hour tribute show put on by Mr. M.

I really, really wished they waited till the truth about what happened to this family, before idolizing the guy on TV, Mr. McMahon, like usual used these events in his favor, for TV ratings. The guy is a monster and should be put in jail for tormenting so many souls and keeping the demons flowing in so many families. He makes millions of dollars, maybe billions off of violence, and especially SEX. Kids shouldn’t be brought up watching these so called superstars, and scantily clad women fighting.

If it is really true Benoit killed his wife and son, then I have no mercy for a guy who takes this route in life. Some of us have thought about taking our own life before, but to take someone else with you is absolutely pathetic.

Today, I’m ashamed to be from the same place as Chris Benoit. I also lived in Lloydminister for a year; TODAY I’m ashamed to be an Albertan.

I have a son too, and to even think about taking his life, I mean, JESUS. Please, my prayers go out to the son and the wife.

If in fact it was murder/suicide, this low life scum shouldn't be idolized like the way some of you are doing.

My heart goes out to Chris Benoit's family. Losing your family in the way that they did is devastating and nobody should go through that. I have been a Chris Benoit fan ever since I started to watch wrestling. I have seen almost every one of is matches and it tears my heart out to hear that he killed himself. I wish I could have seen him wrestle one last time. Meet him one time...

I am glad that my son has had a chance to see Chris Wrestle. He will be truly missed in the ring.

I first saw Chris Benoit when he started out in Stampede Wrestling. He was a favorite of mine then, and continued to be one of my favorites no matter where he wrestled.

Like everyone, I was shocked when I first heard that he and his family were dead. And even more so now that I've read that it appears to have all happened by his own hand.

Everyone can only speculate at what happened this last weekend. We will never truly know the reasons for what happened and like everyone else, my most heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of Chris, Nancy, and their young son, Daniel. May peace and love find you all at this time.

I knew Chris back when he attended the local high school in Edmonton. He liked a neighbours daughter down the street and that is how I met him first. He played football, had dreams and ambitions and spent a lot of time watching and learning from Stampede Wrestling. Life was his oyster! From the outside now it looks like life on the fast lane caught up to that once innocent young man. It's unimaginable what has happened, considering what could have been. I've never been a fan of a make believe world such as wrestling. Seems some of these people never grow up and understand what's important in life! Your family and friends!

My thoughts go out to those who are left to pick up the pieces and are only left with memories that will forever be a stain on his life and legacy. To the Benoit family - be strong! He was a good kid!

ALL OF THESE PEOPLE NEED TO STOP!!! THIS MAN DID NOT TAKE HIS YOUNG 7 YEAR OLD SONS LIFE! HE LOVED THEM DEARLY AND EVEN IF HE DID THEY HAD 2 BE GOING THROUGH HELL!!! NONE OF YOU KNOW WHAT THE HELL HE WENT THROUGH SO STOP! HE WILL NOT BE REMEMBERED AS A KILLER OR NOTHING, HE WILL BE REMEMBERED AS A GOOD MAN AND A GREAT FIGHTER! I STILL BELIEVE THAT HE DIDNT DO IT! GOD PLEASE FORGIVE WHOEVER DID THIS!!!

In 2002, I was fortunate enough to meet Chris the year I graduated from Archbishop O'Leary High School, the same school he graduated from in 1984...My friend and I were last in line for autographs and when he saw the school symbol on my grad ring, I ended up getting ten extra minutes with him over and above the autograph and picture taken with him. Above all, the man had class...it's saddening to hear of his passing, but I can only feel empathy for this man who has been a hero to a lot of individuals, lest these allegations be true. For Daniel and Nancy, I am heartbroken that their lives also had to end so soon. My prayers go out to the Benoit family, and also to each and every single fan who was as fortunate as I to be able to watch Chris do what he was best at. Rest in peace, Chris, I'll never forget you!

Who knows what will come out in the next few days...and certainly what has occurred appears to be an act of selfishness beyond all comprehension. But what he meant to the fans of professional wrestling and what he gave to all of us in the RING is hard to equate.

Tragedies are a part of life, but in the world of wrestling it seems to be alarmingly more prevalent. May they all rest in peace...may they all finally rest in peace.
