Have your say about Chris Benoit
Thu, September 13, 2007

Canadian Pro wrestler Chris Benoit suffered brain damage from his years in the ring that could help explain why he killed his wife, son and himself, a doctor who studied Benoit’s brain said Wednesday.

Steroid use also has lingered as a theory, since anabolic steroids were found in the home and tests conducted by authorities showed Benoit had roughly 10 times the normal level of testosterone in his system when he died.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Chris Benoit.Wrestlers have two sides to them, that unfortunately only their wives and children know.

The sad issue is that young kids look to these thugs as heros. There are no heros.

100% moron!

I was a big fan of wrestling during the attitude era of WWE. I havent watched it as much since Dewayne Johnson and Steve williams left WWE. This is tragic I was watching tv and turned it to wrestling because my 3 yr old son Chris loves John Cena. When i saw the tribute i thought it was a nice touch by VM. Afterwards when I heard about what really happened in GA, I thought this is a case of someone who had a history of domestic problems, steroid abuse "roid rage" and alcohol, which when taken with roids can make the psychosis that much worse, It is a sad tragedy but one that could have been avoided. I work with the mentally ill on a daily basis, a lot of people may not know this but steroids can cause a form of mental illness called psychosis, due to the fact that if someone abuses steroids for a lengthy period of time their body starts producing less testosterone, which in turn causes changes in the persons chemistry especially in the brain.Chris Benoit may have been suffering from this and no one would have known, Until it was too late.People who have chemical imbalances in the brain for any reason are very capable of violent halucinagenic outbursts that can hurt themselves or others. I have seen this first hand where I work. So while this is very tragic, it is also very common. VM will soon come under fire for the rampant steroid abuse in pro wrestling I have no doubts about that. If all other forms of legitimate sports ban them why doesnt pro wrestling? We may soon know the answer to that. My thoughts and prayers are with those left behind to deal with all the loss,My prayers are also with Nancy,Daniel, and of course Chris Benoit.Mike in IA

People, let's keep in mind that wrestling is entertainment, often compared to soap operas. Because Vince "died" on TV means they killed off his character, akin to other shows where they either could not re-sign the actor/actress or needed to write them off the show. The fans were bored with McMahon and WWE thought they could have him leave with a "bang". Now, if they had done this angle after the Benoit scenario, then you could critisize WWE.

Also, WWE Raw is a live event every Monday. They had to make a choice based on the information that was available to them. They had a committment to have a show and chose to focus on Benoit. It was just bad timing on their part. I'm sure they feel awful in retrospect for paying tribute to Benoit before the murder suicide was mentioned. If you look on the website, they've eliminated all bios, photos, videos, tributes, reactions, etc... of and for Benoit, only mentioning the sad state of what has transpired. They did what they felt was right. Nobody could have forseen this. Let's cut the WWE some slack. Regardless of how they treated it last night, they did the best they could with the information that was available. Don't forget, they had heavy hearts making the decisions that they did.

I am disgusted and angered that WWE would tribute or memorialize anything to Chris Benoit.

The fact that every single website and TV program is taking the time to memorialize him is ridiculous. What about his wife and son? Does anyone remember them? They had their lives taken away. As the mentioning of them and the life they lead takes the back burner to a disturb creature. The sight of him makes me S-I-C-K. For this man to think he had the right to take the lives of two innocent people is sickening and disheartning. Then had the gull to place bibles next to their bodies. pffft!

He will forever be described and remembered as a child killing murdering heartless junked out monster. Who deserves to no longer walk this earth. I have no sympathy for him at all!

I've been reading websites and have seen the note posted at Chris's gate, assuming that Chris is in heaven. PLEASE!!!! More like burning in the other place.

I pray for the families of Chris Benoit, Nancy and the precious life of an innocent young boy. I pray the Nancy and her child rest in peace.

Not to even mention what questions, feeling and emotions his other two children are going through.

Sad!

This man should have contacted his family in Canada and sent his son on a flight so that he could be picked up. He had no business killing a SEVEN YEAR OLD! He should have also spared his wife, he is a coward!

For the first time I can remember, I and many of my friends in the independent industry openly wept at the news of Chris Benoit passing. This grief turned to anger and disgust this morning as I found out the circumstances surrounding his death.

Wow What a day for wrestling. A legend is taken from us and at the same time my heart is broken. Chris Benoit in the wring was like ... Poetry in motion. I used to go out of my way to watch him cause it was beautiful. Now he has ruined that for every fan of his. The thing i dont understand is why? why kill his son he was 7!!! not taking anything away from Nancy. But Why his son. WWE needs to take a look at what is going on in there company. So many wrestlers and overall good people have died tragically do the the fact that their drug policy is basically don't ask don't tell. People say it has gotten better. I say BS!!!

If im not mistaken RVD and Sabu got caught with drugs.....still workin

Eugene....Still Workin

How Many more great ones must we lose before wwe enforces a drug policy or wellness policy

Instead of "being dead " Vince should focous on why his wrestlers are really dying!!!! We have lost so many great ones to drugs and accidents

This is my final goodbye to all of those as now i think i have given up on wrestling. Why? Because nobody other that fans seem to care about the wrestlers. Vince just hears cha ching.

So good bye to all the greats in this list and the ones i have forgotten

I know it'll be hard to remeber Chris by anything else than what he did . But also think of that greatness in the ring
Chris, 2007-06-26 16:45:25

Many say that he was a gentle, warm soul. Emotional, yet closed off to those who weren't in his circle. But, to hear that he took the lives of his wife and his little boy paints an extremley different picture. Although, I have the utmost respect for the wrestler I saw in the ring, the accolades, the championships, the passion, the intensity. I cannot respect a man who did what he did. And the funny thing is, we speak about him as if we know him. Most of us didn't know him, hadn't met him. What really happened in that house only Nancy, Daniel, Chris and God know. But, it is a complete waste of a phenomenal talent. And a big blemish on a storied career. If he makes the Hall of Fame, I'll be surprised.
