Have your say about Chris Benoit
Thu, September 13, 2007

Canadian Pro wrestler Chris Benoit suffered brain damage from his years in the ring that could help explain why he killed his wife, son and himself, a doctor who studied Benoit’s brain said Wednesday.

Steroid use also has lingered as a theory, since anabolic steroids were found in the home and tests conducted by authorities showed Benoit had roughly 10 times the normal level of testosterone in his system when he died.

i was a big fan of chris benoit and wwe wrestling but with all facts that are starting to come into light i'm no longer sure.i would like to know how these so called athletes are continually taking steroids - an illegal drug in all sports - and the government doesn't do a thing.this doesn't send a great message to all the youths who watch wrestling and have steroid users for heroes.if the wwe was so serious about this why are the wrestlers still continually using steroids?wrestling used to be something a family could enjoy to watch now the wwe is nothing i would let my family watch. vince mcmahon was supposed to be murdered on tv great example vince.i think the wwe is the trashiest show on tv only jerry springer comes close.i hope wrestling can clean itself up.

I am very upset to see that this happened to such a devoted and amazing wrestler. My opinion is that they should investigate further to make sure it wasn't a setup, but we all know how dangerous drugs can be and the pressure can lead people to do things they don't want to do.

nobody knew what was going through his mind if in fact he was in his right mind we will never know but he still gave me many years of enertainment and to just all of a sudden hate a person for one sick act i just cant do it

Chris Benoit a great wrestler? It doesn't matter. The 3 hour tribute to him on Monday was disgusting. Everyone saying what a great person he was. He's a murderer. 'Roid rage caused this? Please...did anyone force him to take those pills? I suppose, by the same logic, we should be more lenient of drunk drivers and the like. So he left bibles by his wife's and son's side...they didn't need help getting to heaven. He does. He is quite simply a murderer, nothing else.

As anyone consider that he may have had a mental illness. This guy was a guy who was on top of his sport, had everything to live for so the only reason he could have been in depression was a mental illness, past substances abuse sometimes is a factor but it doesn't have to be. People who kill there children and sometimes themselves are usually afflicted with a mental illness or sometimes under the influence of drugs, I have less sympathy for those under the influence of a substance. But when someone who is mentally ill does this I have sympathy for them. The woman in Texas who killed all her children was ill not sure if the courts just tossed her in jail or got her the help she needed, I said she should have gotten treatment and had someone watch and make sure she took her meds most likely her husband. There are several examples out there. The sad part is our laws do not protect the mentally ill. Most places you can't force someone who is mentally ill to get help unless they want it because it is in violation of there freedom. This is the dumbest law of all because they can't think rationally and they are supposed to get help themselves they don't think anything is wrong with them. Hell most sane people have a hard time getting themselves to make a visit to the doctor. Alaska is the worst state/province in all of NA there laws don't believe you can have a problem with the chemistry upstairs so they just toss you in jail so when they get out they are still insane. This is a Tragedy no doubt about it, most murder suicides are. We should not be to quick to judge the man. What he did was horrible but he was most likely not in his correct state of mind. Getting a mental illness can happen to anyone and I mean anyone we can all judge these people and say I would never do that but it ends up happening to these same people. It can happen to me it can happen to you, it may not but if it does we just pray it can be detected early by our loved ones to notice that their behavior as changed.

We as a public should really look at mental illness seriously and read up on it at a local clinic.

We were very sad to hear what has happened. Our hearts go out to the Benoit Family.. Still can't believe Chris has killed his baby boy.. In the news it was said there was problems with the marraiage, it would have been alot better for them to get divorced, then putting their famlies through all of this.. Edmonton, AB was very proud of Chris. Edmonton is our home too. Chris will be greatly missed.Just wish he could have gotten help from someone.. Maybe it would have never have to come to this.. It is a aweful thing to happen to anybody.. I my self can not forgive Chris for murdering his wife & 7 year old Baby Boy.. God Bless the Benoit Family, David, Megan.. God look after all of them in their time of sorrow. 2007-06-27 11:30 A.M.

I agree with a previous comment that Chris was a great wrestler but wait until the facts come in about what happened? I am a mother and can't even comprehend in my mind how anyone can take the life of a child. There is no excuse that will ever be enough for his actions. We just have to pray no one suffered for long and that people should take a good look around because this is a world of danger all around us. Look at trying to fix global warming issues, so we can have a future for our children. But none the less, all our prayers are with the remaining loved ones of the Benoit's. Nobody is thinking about what their comments are doing to the remaining kids of Chris. When it comes down to it, that is their dad, step-mom and brother that they lost. Just focus on your own lives and making the world a better place.

There are quite frankly, no words to describe this atrocity.

Here is a man who had everything. The profession he wanted, money, fame, a beautiful wife and child, and the adoration and respect of his peers and fans. The question to be asked is why, and why did no one else see this coming?

As members of the sports media seem to believe, we have no business knowing the personal lives of atheletes, but if this man's brushes with the law (and I WAS a huge fan) were reported loudly, would the spotlight have been enough for him to get help or for his wife and child to be protected. The same issue could be raised of OJ Simpson; if the media had reported on his brushes with the law and his wife, would the spotlight have saved them as well?

I grew up watching and loving watching this guy perform because he seemed to be a straight ahead decent person with a boatload of talent. The dvd of Mr. Benoit's my wife gave me for Christmas will rest with my memories of a once cherished hero... in the garbage.

Say it ain't so, Chris, say it ain't so.

My heart and prayers go out to all the family members left to deal with the pain and suffering. Speaking from a person that has suffered from psychotic episodes brought on by deep depression, if that is what is deemed to be the end autopsy results. I cannot condone or excuse the actions that he had taken, however, the true internal pain and powerful messages being sent to you at the time of an episode is completely out of ones control. Dear Lord please bless the dear souls of Nancy and their son Daniel as they go to a more peaceful place. There is no more suffering for anyone. How are we to know what pain was going on in that home before this tragic event.

Lest we not forget in this tragedy the loss of the innocence and life of 3 cherished people who were loved by many.

It is a tragedy for the entire wrestling community. He accomplished alot in his life but the guy is still a murderer.
