Edmonton did a terrific job. Lowe stole the show, in my opinion. NYR getting the Russian at 17 and the Pens getting Esposito at 20 were also big hits, I think.

Edmonton won big with Sam Gagner, trust me, he is the real deal, more so than Kane who tended to hear footsteps & disappear in the playoffs. Give it 4-5 years & Sam will be the man

Hard to say if the Leafs screwed up or not. Could they have gotten a better pick at 13th than Toskala? Especially when their biggest need is without a doubt is in goal.
Also getting Bell might be the *mistake* is his off-ice issues continue.
The Leafs now have a very good 1-2 goalie tandem. A lot of D-men to trade and still some salary-cap room.
To that point they screwed nothing up. What they do from here; however, will determine if they do in fact screw things up this summer or not.
In other words, the summer just started. Let's wait until Fall to decided how the summer went.

For those who don't understand the Mtl. Canadians' choices, Mr. Gainey is trying to build a team of 6' plus players over 200 lb. who can skate and hand the puck. Sounds like a plan to me.

Is Valiquette going back to the NYR as a backup goalie? Where is his future in the NHL?

I think that St.Louis won big tonight.
They got Lars Eller (F), Ian Cole (D) and David Perron (F).
Pretty good return.
I just don't understand Montreal's picks at all.

I like what Doug Wilson and the Sharks did. Having no first rounders, he moved backup G Toskala and F bust and highly paid Bell for the # 13. Moved that for the # 9 and gave up the second of two 2nd round 07 picks and the second of two 3rd's in 08 to select a potential future captain in Couture. Made another trade giving up two more middle picks and stole hard shooting, physical D-man Petricki at # 28 who should ultimately fill a hole with Hannan surely gone via Free Agency. Signed unrestricted free agent Rivet to a four year contract for middle of the road money. Not a bad day's work.

I like the picks made by Edmonton, and Montreal. It looks like teams were looking for the next Corey Perry or Ryan Getzlaf. No surprise the Leafs screwed up again this summer.

The Oilers made great picks! Also, I'm very happy that Angelo Esposito had to sweat it out for a long time. That should bring him back down to Earth.
