John Muckler is next in line for an interview with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment as the mega-sports empire continues its search for a senior advisor to help out the hockey club's general manager, John Ferguson.
A source told The Canadian Press that the interview with MLSE was to be held as early as Friday. A call to Muckler was not immediately returned Thursday. Muckler, 73, was replaced as Ottawa Senators GM by head coach Bryan Murray after the season and declined a chance to stay on as a consultant.
I guess if you have to live in Ottawa you have an opinion.
Does anybody else care? Doubt it.

Personally, I would have got rid of that classless goof Alfredsson. Have you ever seen anyone so undeserving of the "C" as this jerk? He lost the finals for Ottawa as soon as he shot the puck intentionally at Niedermayer. The Senators simply deflated after that embarrassing performance.
It is not Muckler's fault.

Who cares. Its a team from Ottawa. Why break a sweat?

Why would you replace a loser with another loser!!!!! OLd dogs old tricks. The Sens need to look for a younger management team to match the young talent they have invested in. They also need a coach who can assess the opposition when the going gets tough. Sorry Bryan but you can't blame all your failures on your players and the referees and bad ice!!!!
Big mistake Ottawa you have a great squad but lack a leader on and off the ice.

No Muckler gave Murray the tallent Murray did more crying apout the refs then he did coaching It should of him the got rid of.

NO from a former sens fan. Small sens.

Well everyone seems to be citing the fact the Murray built the Anaheim ducks, which is mostly true, except for the fact that the team would have been nothing without Niedermayer and Pronger, both Brain Burke acquisitions. So in that way, if Ottawa wins the cup, does Muckler get most of the credit? That being said, Muckler was getting old, and the team did not want to lose Murray, so they made him GM and can look for a new coach *cough John Paddock. So although i don't like the decision, i do understand it. What i don't understand is how everyone keeps saying that Bryan Murray is so much better than Muckler ... here's news for you, he might be as good, but he certainlu is NOT better

Bryan Murray was the GM who put a lot of the pieces together in the Ducks organization. Bryan Burke finished the job. The Ducks are big, tough, and fast. There were cup rings in the dressing room to show them the way. The Sens don't need an overhaul, they need to get a little tougher.

It was a good move to get rid of Muckler. Murray will do a much better job as GM, as they have noted in the past to what he has done! Congrats to the team for a successful year, even though they didn't win the cup. And to all you Redden bashers, he is still a great defense man even though he struggled this year. He still came in behind the top line in points, and especially in the playoffs. Keep Redden, get rid of Spezza.

P.S. Jeff. If you scroll all the way back to the beginning of this thread you'll see that I did offer up what I hope was an "intelligent" response to this topic - the third comment posted.
