Will Weir ever win another major? Thu, June 14, 2007
In 2003 Mike Weir became the first Canadian to win a major, when he won the Masters. That year he ranked 11th in putting. He is currently tied for 74th in number of putts per green in regulation. Consequently he has not come close to winning a major since.
This begs the question: Was Mike Weir just lucky to win the Masters? And because of that win, is he now overrated as a golfer? Will he ever win another major?
Mike was lucky...tiger was re-working his swing and the only guy chasing mike was len mattice (ever heard of him?). As a matter of fact, now that tiger has regained his form (not to mention Phil), I cant see too many more majors ever going to upstarts like weir or johnson.

A nice run there for a few years, but he is not the same golfer he was then. He is not a factor anymore.

You don't win the Masters because you're lucky: it is silly to even consider that question. Nevertheless, no way he wins the US Open especially since he is develloping his new swing in order to preserve his back. Once he is comfortable with his new swing, he'll start to win again.

I wish him all the best but it's unrealistic to think he has a chance at winning the US Open given his play the last couple of years.
