Do the Sens need to make major changes?
Wed, June 6, 2007

After watching Ottawa's run to the Stanley Cup final do you think the Eastern Conference Champs need to make major changes?

What caused the Sens collapse in the Cup final? Was it coaching, goaltending, defence, or just bad luck?

Have your say in our forum.

Keep the team together, they matured with the quest for the cup experience.

That team will grow from the experience.

Go Sens GO

Ottawa definitely needs to make some changes they were totally outclassed, by a much better team, it was a humiliating final to watch, how a team of that caliber made it to the finals is not a very good omen for the NHL,I have seen high school kids with more heart then the senators showed, a truly abysmal performance, living here in the Nations Capital and having this team represent this great city, makes me hide my head this morning, maybe they should move this team to Kitchner/Waterloo. guess I will pick a real team to cheer for ; the DUCKS maybe?

It's easy, Alfredsson is the only consistent factor for every year of failure. The team takes on the personality of their captain, unfortunately he is a slimeball,a heartless cheapshot artist. They are stupid not to trade him.

Sure he played better this year, but he did nothing to prepafre his team for battle, except teach them to whine and dive and take costly cheapshots.

They would get a lot in return for Alfie, that would offset the loss, while at the same time, slapping the "C" on someone like Mike Fisher, that competes EVERY game. Fisher was the BEST Sen throughout the playoffs, he showed up every night, hit and battled. Too bad he was all alone with Emery. The rest of the team could learn a lot about preparation and determination from him. Instead of learning about Preparation H from Alfredsson.

You Sens fans should get on your GM to trade him. You'd be better off and closer to the cup then you were last night.

Thanks for the great ride this year boys.

Congrats to the Ducks, clearly the best team! Also congrats to the Sens for getting to the finals, clearly best in the east but in the end couldn’t handle the physical play. Ottawa needs to make some changes, Muckler missed the bus when it came to getting some toughness and grit, they definitely could have used someone like Roberts. The second, third and fourth lines played well, but your top line needs to just that.

Spezza and Heatley absolutely disappeared in the finals - Alfredson’s puck shooting incident was clearly out of frustration because his line mates were non existent in the finals. The biggest disappointment was with Redden. He played absolutely terrible the entire playoffs. Having him on the ice was like playing 2 men short. He needs to go! Looking back, they should have kept Chara.

To all those who say they choked again, give me a break. It’s easy to say when your team has been golfing since the end of the regular season. With a couple of changes and with this experience Ottawa will be back in the finals before any other eastern Canadian team.

No keep the underachievers together. Follow the lead of the Buffalo Bills.

What a stupid question, at least they made it to the finals and lost to a better, bigger team.

The Leafs havent made it this far since 67 and never will cause they suck.

I'm reading the comments by Billy, Dave and Sillybunt and it's so typical of the immaturity of many so called fans of hockey. Dudes, grow up! Fire Murray? what would you do differently that this coach of 25 years didn't do? Anyone could beat buffalo and pittsburgh? surely you guys were deprived of oxygen to your brains as children. Yes the Sens lost. period. it's just a case of the Ducks being that good. Oh and I will be following the NHL over the summer to see what teams hire Dave, Sillybunt and Billy as coaches or managers. grow up!

A shake up to not make the play-offs at all?

You would have to be an idiot to say they choked. They were beaten by a better team as any other NHL team would have been.

I'd rather make it to the cup two years in a row and lose than not make it to the playoffs at all like 1/2 the other Canadian teams.

What caused the collapse? The DUCKS, they didn't beat every team in the West with smiles and kind words.

Good year and playoff's for the sen's,same old story good defence beats any good offence, and the duck's have a bigger team and faster team, and in every part of the game
