Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

ha ha ha, more Leaf bashing...I swear, you dumb Ottawa fans pay more attention to the Leafs than you do your own team.....what a dumb move by alferdsson...he always has to go and do something stupid, just when people are starting to think he may be okay

Yes I believe it was intentional, he looked at the clock and knew there was only 4-5 seconds left so why would you need to slap the puck down the ice? Plus he moved to his right before shooting! It was a no class move.

What an embarassing moment for hockey and all Sens fans...me being one of them. What makes this even worse is he's suppose to be the leader...way to lead Alfie, what's next throwing sticks at the Ducks bench?

Can't believe anyone even thought to compare Alf to Messier. There is no comparison, Messier is/was one of the best leaders of all time in hockey.

Also a Sens fan here and very disappointed with Alfie's shot. Absolutely no need for that in hockey.

However, I am getting tired of reading how "all Sens" fans suck, are classless, or whatever. That is a small minority of the fan base, the ones that lurk chat rooms and message boards to spew stupid and coward remarks.

But what gets me more is reading that the Sens choke every year including this year if they don't win it all. Please define choke?? The team finished 4th in the conference and now made it to the finals. A heck of a showing if you ask me! Choking is when you lead a playoff series 3-0 or 3-1 and end up losing it. Choking is leading a game with a 2 goal cushion in the 3rd. And all this about not winning and just being a finalist is just the same as finishing last. Yeah right? Any player would take making the finals over not making it to the playoffs or being eliminated in the 1st round.

I have one more comment to make to you Sens fans that are ragging on your team ... and to all the others who are insulting this team. You should be ashamed This team made it to the finals and that's something in itself! Someone has to win and someone has to lose, but the teams that make it there should be admired.

Yeah, it was a "No Class" move and Alf should have warranted a penalty or a game. However, Pronger gets 1 game for a clearly blatant elbow with an intent to injure. Bertuzzi succesfully and singlehandedly ends the career of another player (without so much as an "I Screwed Up") and still he manages to play in the NHL (National Head-hunters League). All three of them should be sent to the minor leages to play with the Timbits. By the way, did Don Cherry approve of Bertuzzi's actions? I can't remember. They are all Hacks and deserve each other.

I think he meant to shoot the puck NEAR him, but face it! the way those guys handle that puck if he had meant to hit him, he would have!
Meggsi, 2007-06-05 11:10:42

Of course he was - period!.........on the other hand maybe he was just auditioning for a spot on the Leafs roster!!!!
Raptor, 2007-06-05 11:07:13

Did a Leafs fan (30 years removed from a "winning team" seriously insult the Senators? A team who has made steady progress in learning to win by developing their own draft picks. I'd take the Senators over the Leafs any time any day. Having said that Go Selanne, go Carlyle, go Ducks...
jrbwolf, 2007-06-05 11:05:59

Is this a serious question? Obviously it was blatant and the refs made the situation worse by not doing a d**n thing. Turning point, yes, extra motivation, no. Senators season is over. Thank God because the finals has been ruined by this group of Senators.

Too bad he missed. Then this whole talk track would be worth the time I just too to type this.
