Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

I find it fairly humourous that G. O'Leary takes several more well aimed swipes at Leaf fans (perhaps a severe case of cup envy), spews some pseudo-intellectual drivel (okay you've got an education), accuses everyone else of being petty, and yet totally avoids answering the initial question ... get your own dictionary. Alfie screwed up as did Pronger and Neil and on and on, and the game we love takes another black eye. Roll back the rules to 1970 and lets play some real hockey!

I was a Senators fan until that Alfie moment. It was a classless act committed by someone who, as captain, should uphold an example to his team. Basically, whatever this guy accomplished so far has been destroyed by this disappointing act, and effectively, the playoffs along with it as well.

I wouldnt expect anything less from a snake like Alfie. He'll got off the hook for pulling this stunt, because as Colin Campbell said the other day 'he was suspended because the player was hurt'.
Will Carson, 2007-06-05 13:55:34

Absolutely, he was aiming the puck at Niedermayer and if the NHL had any guts they would suspend him for at least one game.

But the NHL had no guts to suspend Chris Neil when he charged at a Duck with both elbows up. The fact that the Duck player ducked just in time is no excuse for not imposing a penalty and a suspension. Pronger's suspension was justified. The only difference between Proger's hit and Neil's was that a player got injured. That should not be the criteria for a penalty or suspension.

I am so glad Alfredsson is a Senator. I wouldn't want to see any other NHL team be stuck with such an awful and classless individual. Hopefully Alfredsson will stay as the Senator captain for may more years to come, thus prolonging Ottawa's well earned choke reputation.

I love how Leaf fans try to paint the Sens as a classless team...Tucker is the mayor of No-classville (along with his brother-in-law). I really don't think he meant to hit him with the puck...perhaps shoot it past him to give him a scare, but, that would be the extent of the intent. Alfie does need to take responsiblity for his actions, there is no doubt about that - but, it wasn't intentional...and Leaf fans, relax.

Just typical Alfie - cowardly and dirty. Who expects anything else from this sad excuse for a leader.

He knew exactly what he was doing. he is classless, just like when he immitated Sundin throwing the stick in the crowd -this is common place for him. He should have let the sleeping dragon alone, now they are done. Ottawa is one of the dirtiest teams in the league, I keep hearing ottawa fans say we never got suspended so we are clean. look at this incident - no suspension but dirty as hell and they keep getting away with this stuff. Emery learned well from Hasek he has been flopping around like a fish out of water. 2 people I hate for being gutless classless winers alfredson and his biggest fan Daulton McGinty

No its not a turning point. The Ducks have shown they are clearly the better team, regardless of the incident. They are doing all the little things it takes to win. And like any championship team, they have a little bit of "Lady Luck" on their side. I want the Sens to win but the reality is the Ducks are just too strong.

Alfredson(Krusty)is one of the dirtiest players in the game today, and should definatly be suspended, looks like the pretty boy blew it!!
