Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

This is possibly the most boring Stanley Cup run ever. The only excitement that has happened would be the dirty plays by Pronger.

Alfredsson looked at the clock before shooting, tried to shoot around what's his face and hit Nieder (an awesome defence). Did he do it on purpose? Who cares, I've seen guys shoot the puck at other people before where there was no doubt, here only Alfredsson really knows and it's not a big deal.

Lets just watch another boring game or possibly two and this lame run will be over.

you know, people in this forum are saying that the video evidence was inconclusive, and that is often the case in these things, people always interpret the video evidence differently, and biases influence what they say...I can honestly say though, that I was at the game, and saw it happen...now I'm not saying my perspective from the stands was better than the camera angles, but everybody on our side of the rink, the side where Krusty shot the puck from, could clearly hear him yell as he was winding up, "DIE NIEDERMAYER!!!"....'nuff said.

I'm just an unbiased reader, but I haven't seen too many Sens fans talking about the Leafs, its actually the Leafs fans you are doing all the bashing of Sens fans, its crazy how Leafs fan are so ignorant. I don't think Alfredsson was aiming for him, doesn't seem like something he'd do.

I certainly do think that Alfredsson was aiming at Niedermayer.I am cheering for the Ducks.

Got to agree with Brad. The refs call the little hooks and holds, but when someone gets their head smashed into the glass or a deliberate puck blasted at them there's no call. The punishment should suite the crime, REGARDLESS of the seriousness of the injury. A blatent attempt to injury should be at least three games. If Neidimeyer gets hit in the teeth, mulituple game suspension. if Holmstrom is taken off the ice with a neck brace, mulitple games.

There needs to be harsher punishments for selfish, cowardly acts of violence, PERIOD!!

Define Choke? As in how can The Sens be described as a "team that always chokes" OK! When a team NEVER lives up to expectations. The Sens have on and off for years been considered that hands down fav. going into the playoffs! They NEVER get it done. From losing to inferior Maple Leaf team multiple times, to getting beaten by Buffalo in 5, to losing a Game 7 to NJ in the semi's, to their current state of affairs. They ALWAYS find a way to lose when it really counts! Unfortunate for them but that is the definition of a team that "Chokes"

As for "Alfie"... Not much to say there. A little surprized to hear people such as Don Cherry and Brian Murry jump to his defense saying things like... "not in his nature, he would never do it on purpose" etc.. This guy has a long rap sheet of cheap shots, stick fouls and the like. He is one of the dirtiest palyer in the league and has been for years. Even now, when he is having an MVP quality playoff run, he comes up with this. Classless!!! Classless but typical Alfredsson!!!
Brad F., 2007-06-05 14:52:35

Typical of Alfredsson..no class..no Cup...will always be known as a choker who didn't have the skills to deliver when needed. And when he is confronted...he races away like his life depends on it...hilarious and pathetic
Dan Brock, 2007-06-05 14:34:57

Yes it was intentional. How many times does it have to be shown for every one to realize that. Alfredsson is a dirty player always has been and always will be. I would hope that the league would look at the tape and suspend him. Although I don't believe that will happen.

now to get to the officiating...Dan O'Halloran used to ref in the AHL, how and why he got promoted we will never know. He is a lousy ref and generally has no idea what is going on on the ice.

This has been a long season, but as a fan of the Portland Pirates, the Ducks AHL team, I am very proud of the games that our boys are playing. LETS GET IT DONE
Pirates=Ducks, 2007-06-05 14:34:11

Most of the people on this forum must be from Toronto. You sound like a bunch of whiners as usual. You never know the leafs might make the playoffs next year. ha ha

Of course Alfie was aiming for Niedermayer. He lost his cool big deal... if you watch any of the season players lose it once in a while just like you. As for the officiating it sucks. They sent players to the penalty box in droves thru the whole season and most of the playoffs up until the final. Watching Cherry and Hull on the NBC interview last night was the low part of the night.
Chuck, 2007-06-05 14:15:42

I get a kick out of reading all the leaf fans complaining about the Sens. At least the Sens have made it to the Finals in the last oh lets say 40 YEARS. I don't agree what alfie did but remember he is the guy that has brought them this far . Unlike sundin or tucker. Go Sens <---Canadian Team
