Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

Alfie is a dirty player, no news there. But the reason I am cheering for the DUCKS is because we wanna bring the Cup back to Canada... FACT: There's more Canadian players on the Mighty Ducks than on the Sens. So cheering for the Ducks in this series means cheering for the true Canadian team of the two. Grapes favours the Ducks too, attaboy Don!

It's pretty obvious he was aiming for Niedermayer, especially after looking at it over and over -- no surprise though. Take a look at the footage of Alfie's hit on Tucker in 2002 -- surprise, surprise. In the same vein, I don't think anyone will ever be surprised by Pronger's actions in the future either. I can cheer for the Sens, but never for Alfredsson.

Alfredsson who???

Low life hockey player! Did I say Hockey player? Sad, very sad, that the NHL and the officials did nothing about it. Can't imagine if it had been Pronger? But, let's just hope the Ducks nail the Senators to the ice, so Alfredsson will look "more" like a total jerk for what he attempted to do. What a sad way to show your true colors. Dirty, dirty move! And he calls himself a Captain? Let's hope the upper brass on the front office of the Ottawa Senators removes such a jerk as a Captain of the team. Captains of teams, do not behave that way. They are supposed to be an example to the team and to the youth of this country.

Without Alfie Sens would have been out 1st round.
kramer, 2007-06-05 22:27:04

Typical of Alfie,he is always crosschecking someone from behind or punchingfrom behind the linesman or diving.

Go Ducks Go!!!!

Leaf fans will never forgive Alfie for humiliating Darcy Tucker a couple of years ago when he dumped old Tuck on his a$$, stole the puck and scored. A thing of beauty.

Is he guilty? Probably. Campbell is letting that crap go whenever Pronger is involved so what's all the fuss about Alfie??

Give me the old days when when guys like Bob Probert punched into work for such an occasion. The "new" NHL SUCKS!

Without a doubt Alfredson was aiming for Niedermayer but look closer. Alfie has mastered hitting from behind. Alfie has mastered kicking the puck in the net. Alfie has not mastered shooting down ducks. Alfie won't master hoisting the cup.
Steve McWilliam, 2007-06-05 21:38:14

actually, to clarify someone's point, it's "should have" and "could have", not "should of" and "could of".....

GO LEAFS GO!!!!

Cup envy Festus? I'm a Habs fan. Have been since the late 1940s, so there is clearly no envy when it comes to Stanley Cups. Most certainly not where the Leafs are concerned! Pseudo-intellectual? Read the bloody post again. I was taking a "swipe" at those for whom the exercise of stringing together a legible sentence of more than 6 words is an exercise in futility. If being able to write properly and avoid the use of statements such as "should of" and "could of" and "better then" is wrong, then colour me guilty. As for "maligning loyalty" I did no such thing Chris. My target was (and is) those who pass themselves off as hockey fans but can't get beyond the "so-and-so sucks" or "so-and-so rules" drivel. But to keep you happy Festus, yes I think Alfredsson did it on purpose, and yes I think he should have been penalized.

Well before this series started everyone said, how are the Ducks going to stop Alfie,Heatly,Spezza. Now we know how but the Sens still can`t figure it out and the frustration is showing by plays like that one. Sens crowned to soon.
