Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

This vitriolic hatred of Alfredsson being spewed out on a daily basis would be amusing - if it wasn't so pathetic. What makes it even more ridiculous is that anyone with the IQ of a turnip knows that, were he to suddenly appear in a Leaf uniform, they'd be lining up to kiss his derrière. It's always been that way in Leaf-Land. The "Krusty The Clown" insults have been done to death folks. Latch onto something original.

And as for that other garbage we keep hearing about more "CANADIAN" players on the Ducks, or the fact that only a "CANADIAN" can be a captain - yadda, yadda, yadda - I'm sure all those Leaf Nation addicts would refuse to stand up and cheer if, by some wild stretch of imagination, Sundin or Antropov happened to score the Stanley Cup winning goal. Right!

I think everybody needs to relax! Yes Alphie did a dumb thing, and yes he should have gotten a penalty, but come on ....this is hockey. It's physical, it's fast and it's exciting..and yes sometimes the guys screw up, but who hasn't. I'm so sick of all the whining; he is only one guy on the team and couldn't possibly win or lose the cup on his own. It is this whining that has inspired all the new rules, which in my opinion have ruined the game. That game is over, Niedermayer was not hurt, Alphie feels bad, so lets move on.....if you want to watch ballet, watch ballet....but if you want to watch hockey, suck it up!

If it would of happened at the beginning of the period, no one would've even said a word about the incident. I think it was a good move on his part to do this, he took a chance, yes it might've backfired, but it could've sparked his team to play better and have the Ducks concentrate on revenge instead of winning.

it is pretty bad when your captain Alfie get booed in hie sown arena at the start of each season. Having said that if he took the soother out of his mouth he may have a better view of where he should shoot the puck. He is a disgrace to the NHL and should go back from whence he came.

Did Alfredson shoot it at Niedermayer? Most definitely! But, I keep reading how shooting the puck at Niedermayer cost the Sens the series. I don’t think so. It was a dumb a$$ move and it fuels the fire, but from the drop of the first puck Ottawa has been out hit, out hustled and outplayed with the exception of a couple of periods here and there. If not for Emery the games would have been more lopsided in favour of the Ducks. I don’t think you’ll see the Ducks changing their game plan and go after Alfredson, hoisting the Cup will be more payback that any cheap shot could provide. The Sens have had a great run this spring and deserve to be there to represent the East but Anaheim has been the better team in the finals and barring a miraculous come back it will be over sooner than later.

Who cares if Alfie was aiming at Niedermayer. It's irrelevant now. It is so obvious that there are a lot of bitter and very jealous Leaf fans in here all living in the past. Get a life. The Sens are having a great run to the Stanley Cup and although I am not holding my breath you never know until that last whistle blows.

Go Sens Go!!!

Any intentional action that could result in any injury should be at least an attempt to injure penalty. When he looked up,turned his body position towards centre ice he knew exactly what he wanted to do,and that was to go duck hunting. His actions should result in nothing less that what Pronger received.

Alfie the “Swedish Shrimp” should grow his hair back wild looking like he used to wear it a couple of years back when the Sens used to make their early exits in the playoff rounds. At least then he looked like the clown that he actually is! He was a spitting image of “Crusty the Clown” from ‘Simpson’s’ fame! Now he is only “Crusty the bald Clown!” What a maroon! He’s a perfect example why no European Captained team has ever won a Stanley Cup, and thankfully the Hockey God’s will not let it happen this year. Go Niedermayer Go! GO DUCKS GO!
Fort Rouge Ted, 2007-06-06 02:21:11

Yes, I think that he was aiming at Niedermayer...was it a mistake? For sure. Could it be a turning point. I laugh everytime I hear that he may have cost them the cup. First of all the sens were down 2 games to 1 so, it's not like they were pulling away there, Secondly, they played like crap in the 2nd, and were barely hanging on. 3rd, after reading all of the points I can't help but think that most of the comments are from Leaf fans, the constant rants about the Tucker crosscheck and the GO LEAFS GO comment seem to confirm this. The Sens will probably lose in five but they had a hell of a playoffs and they deserved to be there. Great Work Sens. GO SENS GO, there will be plenty of Playoff Finals in the future, not all teams can say that.

I think Alfie should hide his head in shame. What kind of a leader does such cowardly things. He is nothing but a jerk with a C on his shirt. Another Messier, I think not. I hope that the Ducks send them packing and maybe Alfie the turtle can find a new place to swim because he is an embarassment to real Canadian hockey players.
