Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

Look at YouTube and you can see both the CBC & NBC feed. He was aiming without a doubt. His lame explanation is a total lie when you watch the replays. Whether it was a momentary lapse or deliberate is not the point. It changed the momentum in the game. He is supposed to be the team leader. He gets booed when he touches the puck in more rinks than Toronto. This is NOT the 1st time he has "lost" it, but what he is losing this time is the ultimate hockey prize. Shame on him for acting like a kid instead of the leader he is supposed to be. What kind of example is he for all the young fans watching on tv and at the rink! Shame on him for not owning up to it and apologizing. Shame on him for letting down the fans and the city.

I find it pathetic that Ottawa fans seem only to care about bashing the Maple Leafs, your team is in the run for the Stanley Cup for pete sake, it looks as though the Leafs have gotten so far under your skin you can think of nothing else. Remember the Stanley Cup!! Winning means everything ,losing ...well it really doesnt matter ,2nd place or 30th no diffrence; a loser is a loser, and yes Alfredson should be suspended it was an act of frustration and an intent to injure. Such an act is cowardly and shows the lack of character this player has. Well the Cup will be and stay in Anaheim thanks to the Sens so called Captain.

Most of the people on this forum talk like the Leafs have actually been in the playoffs.

Does anyone even remember the last time our hometown duds weren't on the golf course come April?

Alfredsson was doing what it takes to fire up his team. Period.

Go Sens!

It just proves again what a no class person Alfredsson is. He should have been suspended for that. It's intent to injure!!

Niedermayer was very polite as to what happened, but you can guarantee in the fall someone will clean his clock.

I also think Don Cherry didn't say what he really felt because he didn't want to get into trouble with the league and management.

Playing hard and physical is one thing, and exciting at playoff time. Being a whiner has no place in competitive sports.

I wonder what you Ottawa/Alfie supporters would say if Niedermeyer did get injured from the incidence...

Thats a big ""HELL YA"" the league should take a look @ ""INTENT TO INJURE""

which = 3 Game Suspension in the least....
Bert Nadeau, 2007-06-06 10:55:14

To George. You sounded more like a loser who blames everyone here being a Leaf-fan. Oh well, lets relax and watch the drama tonight.
jag, 2007-06-06 10:49:59

Ok guys, you talk like the Leaf's are the cleanest team. You all are such jokes.
hockeyFan, 2007-06-06 09:57:43

How come Prongers two suspensions didn't get this much attention? ALfie is the reason why they are where they are. Not a big fan of him myself but he's a heck of hockey player. This is playoff hockey, not basketball, get over it....
Chuck, 2007-06-06 09:41:09

This is another obvious situation which provokes the age-old question: "How do Swedes reproduce?" Alfie and his ilk consistently prove that they have no balls, so it begs the question, "Where do they come from?"
