Was Alfredsson aiming for Niedermayer?
Mon, June 4, 2007

Do you think Daniel Alfredsson was aiming at the Ducks captain near the end of the second period?

Could this play be a turning point for the Ducks? Will it give them any extra motivation to finish off the Senators at home in Anahiem?

Have your say in our forum.

I was hoping for an Ottawa victory but after seeing Alfredson pull off such a senseless act made me wonder why would you do such a stupid thing after tieing the game? It just gave the momentum right back to Anaheim. Of course Alfredson is not going to admit to it but it was pretty clear what he was trying to do. With 8 seconds left why not just dump it in and take the momentum straight to the 3rd?????

hey there Wayne in Calgary, as I remember it, the Leafs won their last game of the season, beating the Habs 6-5!!! They didn't make the playoffs 'cause the Isles won the next day...so the Leafs did win the big one!!! ha ha ha!!!!!

Alfredsson slowed down, THEN shifted his body'd shooting angle and position. Anyone who plays ice hockey knows that if you have time to shift, you are aiming at something (or someone). It wasn't one quick motion - that would have been more plausible as an accident. That whole 'it was in his feet, by mistake yada yada yada' is a crock. Niedermayer is already playing hurt, the Sens know it, the analysts know it, everyone who knows hockey knows it - just look how slow he's skating... just shows how much Alfredsson is just a big punk...

It's amazing how some journalists/ex-hockey players are defending Alfredson for shooting the puck at Neidemeyer?????

If not for it being the Stanley Cup Finals, that would have been a bench clearing brawl!!! Alfredson has never been a leader in the NHL, and shooting a puck at one of the "Best Ever Players", shows he never will be!!!!

I feel that Daniel should have been disqualified. His behaviour is not befitting of a captain. With the amount of young hockey hopefuls out there, I feel that he should be made an example of to show that his sportsman like conduct is an extremely poor example. That his behaviour is not exceptable.

Alfredsson clearly aimed for Niedermayer. How much more proof do you need? First, he looked up to see where he was, and second, he sure wasn't facing any where near the net. Alfredsson showed me what I always thought of him, that he's a big cry baby. It will be interesting to see what Krusty will do when the Ducks win the Cup tonight!

Hey Wayne, you say the leafs don't choke...didn't they need to win the last game of the season to make the playoffs?

But, I guess in your small maple laugh mind that wasn't "the big one"! So what is "the big one" to you, making sure you have the first tee time of the season?

I won't even get into the Berard comments by you and Ozzy as they just don't make any sense...imagine that coming from a Maple laugh fan! Quit thinking about something that happened 40+ years ago and look at the maple laughs today...oh wait, most of them have tee'd off.

From Jag:

"To George. You sounded more like a loser who blames everyone here being a Leaf-fan."

What? Have any of you people graduated from grade school? How do you survive on a daily basis? Hmmm ... "blames everyone here being a Leaf-fan." Not sure what you meant but if you think I was accusing everyone here of being a fan of the Leafs, then that is wrong. It was more of a "if the shoe fits" diatribe. Oh yes, it was a diatribe. I admit it. But that's what we're ALL doing here isn't it? If you regarded what I said as an insult to everyone by assuming they were Leaf fans, then I'm sorry they are Leaf fans. Or masochists. Whichever you prefer.

By the way, folks, it's easy isn't it to throw insults at people while hiding behind a cloak of anonymity? Comments from those using nom de plunes is like throwing rocks at a G8 conference while wearing a mask. No gonads.

I have never been a fan however i was impressed until this point of how his play offs had been going. Then his ugly self absorbed garbage appears. He should have got a game; one for "intent injure" Secondly he makes hockey & its players look terrible!!!
