Was Pronger fairly punished?
Sat, June 2, 2007

This was not a playoff game Chris Pronger will want to remember.

The Anaheim Ducks stalwart defenceman kicked a puck into his own net and failed to block a centering pass that led to another goal. And then there was the play in which Pronger raised the ire of the Senators, when he hit Dean McAmmond in the head and knocked the Ottawa forward woozy.

Was Pronger fairly punished for his hit on Dean McAmmond?

No way is only 1 game fair punishment. This is Pronger's second cheap shot to a players head, he did it just last series against Detriot when he hit Homstrom from behind with an elbow to the head. He should have gotten at least the rest of the playoffs and maybe a few games to start next season. The more I see him play the more respect I lose for him. If that was a Sens player he would have gotten more than a 1 game suspension for surefor a repeat offender.

This is just more proof the suits in New York want an american team to win the cup.

Colin Campbell doesnt have the guts to give Pronger what he really deserves at least 5 games for now a repeat offender of cheap shots to players heads. If anyone saw the close up on Deans face as he lied on the ice you could clearly see he was out of it, he looked like he was lost.

The NHL say they will crack down on repeat offenders but its clearly just talk as they just have proved to us.

Linesmen can call major penalties but no one saw it, great job guys, how can 4 people miss that ?

At least one ref should be watching the puck carrier and the other for stuff behind the play so it really makes me wonder what these guys are watching and how they made it to the finals.

Disgusting job by all 4 refs on the ice last night, they should be ashamed of themselves and let go for the rest of this year and get 4 new refs to finish the series off.

GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!!!

Pronger should have received at least 3 games for the cheap shot. This guy has a history of hitting guys to the head and the league should have thrown the book at him.

The hard hits are fine but when someone deliberately goes for the head, he should receive a far stiff suspension than one game.

What a joke !!!!!! A one game suspension after doing the same thing earlier in the playoffs??? Get rid of Colin Campbell, because to give this irresponsible punishment means he is not doing his job! Pronger should be out for the rest of the series! NO QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Domi get's 11 games for an elbow in the playoffs, but Pronger has gotten 2 games amongst two elbows?! What is wrong with the NHL?!
Christian, 2007-06-03 16:31:07

Absolutely! It was a cheap shot. He knew it was going to the head and it's more than time that the NHL does all it can to eliminate this sort of stuff. Last night's game was full of tough hard hitting hockey and that's fine, but hits like that have got to go, no matter who's doing it!

This is the second intentional head hit Pronger has got away with in the finals, and he has a record for doing the samen in the regular season. I think that he should be suspended for the balance of the series, it's time that the NHL cracks down on this type of cheap shot before someone gets seriously injured.

He deserves the suspension however we'll miss him as he was the main reason we won last night. He's an overrated dirty player.
Pierre from Ottawa, 2007-06-03 15:39:14

This tall short stuff is nonsense. These guys don't do anything by accident. They're pros and they know exactly where their sticks, elbows and knees are at any given time.

As a second time offender in these play-offs, Chris should have received at least two games. But the brass of the NHL has two sets of rules. One for the elite players and one for the fourth liners.

Cheers.

3 games is it. leaves him available for 7th game if there is one. 2 palin dirty head hits in 2 weeks. If it was midseason, he should get 7 games, but 3 in playoffs = 7 in mid season. Height difference does not matter. He clearly used a blatant elbow. He could have used his body instead.

hahaha... bye bye pronger!!

1 game is nowhere near enough for this dirty repeat offender.. but at least he got something. Maybe they'll give him 20 games on his next decapitation attempt... which with Pronger's history, could be sooner rather then later.

Then again, with the way he played in game 3 I wonder if it would be better for Ottawa to have him in the lineup lol
