Was Alfredsson's goal legal?
Sat, June 2, 2007

General Manager John Muckler said the Senators need a hero to step up and it doesn't necessarily have to be captain Daniel Alfredsson, centre Jason Spezza or winger Dany Heatley, who have been the lightning rods for the criticism.

"Somebody has to take control," said Muckler. "You have to have good leadership and I feel we have good leadership, but somebody has to take control of the team and lead the team on the ice.

Was Alfredsson's goal legal? Did the refs make the right call? Have your say in our forum.

That was a no goal. Earlier they disallowed several goals like that, so they should have done that tis time as well. Pronger's hit was a bit dirty, but it's pretty funny how the Ottawa sissies cry foul but Neil's dirty hits are ok... At least it gives the Sens something to whine about.

I watched that goal from all views that they showed on CBC, your allowed to redirect a puck with your skate. he kicked afterwards due to reactionwhen the puck was already in the net. legal goal.

yes..a soccer goal!
Maurice, 2007-06-03 00:19:50

Thought it was funny that Greg Millen said the goal was directed in but that Alfredsson's leg followed through.....uh that's a kick. Regardless, Sens deserved to win even though Emery was brutal. Ducks have no discipline and need to smarten up if they are going to finish off Ottawa. BTW: What's with Neil tough act?? Going after Selanne and Niedermayer, way to go tough guy; he's the next Tie Domi.

Yes the goal was legal. Those who say different were watching a different game.
Russ, 2007-06-03 00:03:52

No the goal wasn't legal, especially because the goal against Buffalo was disallowed, no consistency in the refereeing! Pronger, well it is what it is.. there were other missed penalties, and some that were called were ridiculous! You'd think with the added referees out there, best of the best.. well you know what I mean

No. Alfredson kicked the puck into the net. Whoever agrees with the final decision is 1) An Ottawa supporting goon 2) blind.

There were way too many penalties. The entire playoff is like that. Stupid referees decide the game instead of letting the player played.

Pronger should be suspended.

An no, I don't support the Ducks either. I just want to see a fair match.

No way, you could see him watch the puck all the way to his skate, He totally kicked it in. But the blown elbow call by Pronger kinda evened that up. I hope Pronger gets a Game or 2 again.

waiting to hear Brian Burke say the guy skated into Pronger's elbow so it was ok.
Jeff, 2007-06-02 23:27:31

YEP.. What about the missed elbow penalty.. He should be kicked out
