Were the referees missing calls?
Tue, May 29, 2007

Bryan Murray was seeing red yesterday.

The Senators coach doesn’t want to instruct his players to do anything stupid, but Murray indicated if the Anaheim Ducks are going to be able get away with hooking, holding and obstruction, he’s going to tell Ottawa players to do the same.

Were the Ducks getting away with calls in Game 1? Have your say in our forum.

'Fowl' play worries Murray

The referees were missing calls all over the place. I don't believe though that it was one sided, just poor alround. I do think that they all try to ignore some stuff to keep the game play going. Who wants to watch 30 seconds of play then a face off? Thats pritty boring. Also it would just take too long to play the game.

Leonard you need to put your glasses on when you watch Sens games. Ottawa has been getting shafted when it comes to penalties being called. How many times in the Buffalo series did they get tripped and no call was made. Its clear that the suits in New York dont want Canada winning the cup.In the past I wouldnt have thought that was true but after watching every Sens playoff game this year I see its true. We need a Canadian running the NHL from either NY City or in Toronto.

American teams have been giving ample opprunities to make a go of it and time after time they fail and here in Canada we have Winnipeg, Quebec City and Hamilton that can and will support a team but we wont get one because Atlanta, Phoenix, Florida, Nashville etc markets are needed. Needed for what, they arent going to the games or even watching on tv, time for a change in there thinking and start moving American based teams back to Canada where they belong and will be supported!!!!!!!!!!

What a joke. I clearly saw multiple Anaheim players in the goal crease during the first game. The refs did nothing to hear to the Senators pleas on this. Nice to know the Ducks have alot of Canadians on it, but this is not about that. It's about Cities. I am for the Senators and the refs better get their act together because there will be hell to pay if they pull that crap here in Ottawa.

The powerplays were almost 2-1 in favour of the Sens and they are still complaining! The only team getting away with penalties was Ottawa, just like every other game this playoffs.

It appears Murray is taking one from Gretzky's book to deflect the focus to himself, YES, there were calls missed ..... against OTTAWA!

They were clearly out hussled and the Sens were obviously trying to slow things down thru hooking and holding. The one goal deficit could, and should have, been worse. The Sens are starting to sound a lot like the Leaf's moaning and groaning already!

I can't believe all the calls against the Ducks. Ottawa certainly got all the breaks at the start and end of the game.

I wonder how many of these people who complain about how dirty the Sens are might actually be disgruntled Leafs fans, or Sens/Ottawa haters in general. I've seen probably 60 Sens' games so far this season and have seen absolutely nothing dirty about how they play the game. They are certainly no more dirty than any other team in the NHL, and definitely less-so than a team like Anaheim. As for the penalties, Anaheim will have to play much more disciplined if they hope to have a chance, as they are clearly a team who take a lot of dumb penalties. If Ottawa had capitalized on the 5-on-3 they had in game one it would have been a very different game. Yet people call Ottawa a dirty team. Hmmmmm... maybe some people need to actually watch the game instead of being bitter and biased.

Missed calls! That’s an understatement. In the last 2 minutes alone there were several blatant cross checks and muggings in front of the net. Also, obstruction interference must have been removed for the play off rule book. If they are going to let the late hits and interference go in the play offs they may as well allow it in the regular season so you know what to expect.

The NHL officiating is garbage. They are so busy calling a player for touching another with his stick that they don't call some of the more serious plays. If it keeps going they'll be playing no hit.

i don't thik they have missed anything. Maybe, I was watching a different game, but I didn't see anything the Ducks got away with. The Sens were no better, only the Ducks were the better team. They should stop whining for once.
