Is Alfie as good a leader as Messier? Mon, May 28, 2007
Either 73-year-old John Muckler has gone senile or his mind has been messed by getting back to the Stanley Cup for the first time in 17 years.
Muckler compared the 2007 Ottawa Senators to the 1990 Edmonton Oilers here yesterday. And if that didn't do it, he called Daniel Alfredsson the equal of Mark Messier as a leader.
Alfie couldn't carry Messiers jockstrap! Honestly , if you had a choice of who you could have on your team, who would you pick? DOH!

That's comical. Didn't Alfredsson try to act like Messier a few years ago and guarantee a Cup win? That didn't work out too well. Maybe he was looking a few years down the road, but we'll see about that.

Muckler's helmet is to tight,Alfie is good but he can't carry Messier's stick.

You must be kidding! What has this guy ever done, let's not go overboard.

What an idiotic question. Who dreams this crapola up? Are the media that desperate for something to write about? Muckler explained what he meant by that, and it's a reasonable explanation. Just leave it at that. You may as well ask if Messier and his 6 Stanley Cups is as good as Henri Richard and his 11, or Jean Beliveau and his 10. What drivel. I can't wait to see some of the bonehead responses.

Messier led by example so does Alfie. The difference will be in time whether or not Alfie will leave Ottawa in his final years to play in New York then assume 5 years later he's just going walk right up to whatever GM at the time and take over as he pleases!
