OTTAWA (CP) - With Ottawa as the lone Canadian team in the Stanley Cup finals, it seems more and more people see the Senators as "Canada's team."

A new poll suggests most Canadians still see the Toronto Maple Leafs as the hockey team that most represents the country. Among the nearly one-quarter of Canadians who, when asked, said they are avid hockey fans, 27 per cent picked the Leafs as Canada's team in a Decima poll conducted last weekend.

How can the Leafs be considered Canada's team? Canada's golf team, perhaps. The Laffs could learn a lot from the Senators organization - like how to produce a decent Stanley Cup contending team. Ottawa has definitely been Canada's team the past decade. Before that I'd have to agree Andre and go with the Canadiens.

I'm a Flyers fan stuck living in the heart of 'Leafs Nation'. It's given that Leaf fans will jump all over Ottawa NOT being Canada's team. When's the last time the Leafs made it to the finals? Go Sens Go, do Canada proud!

The senators are definitely not canadas team they have next to no history and they are a dirty team, the leafs are canadas team because of their long history, sens suck.

I grew up in TO & now live in the west & have always been a LEAF fan. This poll about Canada's team clearly shows that the LEAFS are that...just look at the fans at every rink they play in. I for one will not jump on the Senators bandwagon but rather cheer on the DUCKS as they have a great bunch of CANADIANS on the team. GO DUCKS GO >>>>

The maple leafs and the canadians are definetly canadas teams the sens are less canadas than any of the other five canadian franchises they have very little history and they are a dirty team. sens suck.

Anybody who cheers for the sens over the age of twenty is a bandwagon jumper from either toronto or montreal. However,I hope they win the cup so the players salary escalate so much that they have to break up the team.

Toronto Maple Leafs have always been, and always will be, Canada's team. Ottawa made the finals, but so did Edmonton and Calgary in the past two seasons. Big deal. I certainly wish the Leafs would do that, but it is not essential. Only two teams per year make the finals. What I like is the history behind this storied team.

Ottawa, too, has a history stretching back to the early 1900's (their last Cup win was in 1927), but I just prefer the Leafs.

Its just unreal that your poll suggests that the Leafs are the National Team. As you must know there last cup was in 1967. The only reason that people think them as a National team is that CBC can't get beyond Toronto on a Saturday nite.

I am an OILER Fan. The only Team to win 5 Stanley Cups in the Last 25 Years.

This year I am cheering for Ottawa.
