A local group trying to keep the Predators in Nashville is on the verge of signing a letter of intent.
Owner Craig Leipold has been working with a group of local investors to finalize a bid for the team since flying to New York on July 18 for a meeting with NHL officials.
Leipold has been trying to sell his franchise because he said he has lost $70 million since being awarded the team in June 1997.
This might mean that the team is not moving anywhere for now. Is this good news for the NHL?
Preds staying, for now

Never mind that to expand you need new viewers and the US also has more of them.
Never mind that Bettman does the bidding of the owners and Toronto and Buffalo say don't put it in hamilton.
No its all Bettman and all you rich billionaires know better than the current rich owners.

Bettman if Canada is that bad then stop using our players to make up your American teams !!!!!!! Lets see how many teams you would have without Canadian players and how long the NHL would survive without them and what the value would be then, maybe a few million if your lucky.
Bettman must be fired before he completely ruins hockey in Canada just as he is doing in the USA.
Bettman get a clue already, Americans dont care about hockey and never will, so your dream of landing a big time tv contract is wishful thinking. Hey Gary dont forget this bit of info ok, you work for the owners not the other way around so get it through your thick head that you are not running the league cuz you arent you are just a lil muppet !!!!
Bettman must go and the sooner the better.

Bettman is an idiot, he knows nothing about hockey, he came from the NBA as he was working under David Stern. He is too stubborn to say he made a mistake in places like Carolina, Florida, Phoenix and Atlanta. He will wait for them teams to go bankrupt before he would let them relocate, now thats bad business. There are some good hockey cities in the US but most couldnt care less about the game. The TV deal is a pipe dream that will never happen on a scale like the NFL, NBA or MLB.
Hockey Is Canada, Canada is hockey!!!

Well, let's see here: Balsillie offers 48 million more dollars than DelBaggio and now we're getting ready for the Kansas City Predators.
It would seem fairly clear that someone definitely does not want another team in Canada. The eternal chase for the "golden" USA televsion contract is never going to end. And yet still, motivated by greed and fuelled by ignorance, the league is still(still!) trying to push a square peg into a round hole when it comes to "selling" the game of hockey in the USA. The blatant ignorance being displayed over this matter is absolutely staggering. To see the league flaunt this kind of ignorance to it's fans is devastating.
