Following the Blue Jays' 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, Ricciardi, the Blue Jays' general manager, told the Fan 590 that the club fabricated the nature of closer B.J. Ryan's injury during spring training.
If anything, I'd rather see Gibbons go than Ricciardi. His lack of a steady lineup is frustrating as a fan. I wonder what it must be like for a major leaguer. (Is this house league ball where everyone gets a crack at a spot in the order?)
As for the current issue with JP's comments about BJ Ryan, there is none.
Who cares? He's still hurt. He's still gonna need time on the DL. (If anyones argument is based on fantasy leagues, shut it!)
JP doesn't need to answer to us on anything. Why he spoke about this to the FAN 590 at this point in time is questionable only on the merits of 1)Timing, 2)Why do the fans need to know?
Seriously, we don't need to know about this, even though we realize lying about injuries is part and parcel of the business.
I'm fine with JP's job thus far as GM of the Jays. Gord Ash, not so much.

Ah! Isn't it too bad that you in the media do not know everything short of sanitary habits about every player on the ball club? I do not understand this issue.
You in the media do not get upset when you cannot get a straight answer from the Leafs on an upper body injury when the player only has a head ache or a hang nail?
Give Ricciardi a brake and understand that it is a business first, that his first concern is protection of his assets and in sports they are the players. As for the fan who phoned up after the comment on B.J. and called Ricciardi liar and there was not response from the Fan host, I was not very impressed.
The media and the fans have gotten more access to Ricciardi than any other Jays GM in Jay’s history, yet it is not good enough for some in Toronto. But Toronto continues to tolerate the Leafs and that mess at the ACC both for their lack of respect for the fans and their front office nonsense.
A most interesting issue from the media is what about the ticket price increase from the Leafs when their operating cost have decreased considerably under this new CBA, but there is never enough profit for the teachers pension fund.
Let’s give Ricciardi a chance to do his job and the media can shut up and be satisfied with the amount of information they get to perform that function.
I guarantee you; Ricciardi will never give that much insight ever again on any issue again.
Thanks

Two managers hired and fired + current one is his buddy and likes to fight his players.
Only stars are from the Gord Ash era (Roy Halliday, Vernon Wells) or by overpaying on the Free Agent side.
No prospects in the minors, scouting staff decimated from what it was.
Should he go? YES and soon!!

Yes it's time for him to go!! His five year plan is now in year SIX. Outside of being a friend (at a COST) of Godfrey and Rogers, what has he done? Losing Carpenter for a few lousy dollars shows the lack of insight. Maybe he's working for the RED SOX too.
