(CP) - Sidney Crosby is in the running for a rare NHL triple. The star Pittsburgh Penguins centre has already won the Art Ross Trophy as scoring champion, and the league announced Tuesday that he's a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP and for the Lester B. Pearson Award as outstanding player in the eyes of his peers.
Goaltenders Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks are the other Hart finalists.
There has been some good points about Crosby keeping the Penguins out of the basement, well Stall and Malkin definetely helped him too! If you look at Vancouver, they would have been one of the worst team in the NHL if not for Loungo, they can't score and had quite a few minor-league players stepping in on defence. That is what is important, its for the player who made the biggest difference for his team. Loungo all the way!!!!

Jerome Iginla, had he played the full schedule, would have elevated the Flames to the top of their Division, the most difficult Division in the NHL. Clearly, he is the MVP...or could have been.

I like Crosby. He's earned every point and takes more hits in one night than Gretzky did in a season.
Many nights he didn't get much help and took a beating in the corners but the kid didn't give up. That's hard to find in the NHL these days.

Luongo and Brodeur stop the puck themselves. No one does it for them. They are the last defense. Crosby scores from someone's passes and passes off and the other guy might score. He has Staal, and Malkin, Whitney etc. etc. Good hockey player, yes.. MVP, no. Louongo should get MVP.

No, Sidney gets it. Take him off that team and they clean the basement for another year or two. Without Brodeur Devils still get into the playoffs, fighting for it, but they get in.
