Can Luongo lead Canucks to the Cup? Fri, April 27, 2007
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- It was deja vu for "Bobby Lu."
A tired Roberto Luongo allowed three Anaheim Ducks' goals on nine shots last night in the first period of a 5-1 Vancouver Canucks' loss to open the Western conference semifinal.
The Ducks also beat Luongo three times on nine shots in a 6-0 win at Vancouver last November.
Someone commented that Luongo "couldn't stop a mack truck".
That's a genius statement isn't it; who could?
Luongo is the only reason that a mediocre team had a bit of success in the playoffs.

No. He does not have enough goal scoring support. It's great that we have a goalie that will only let in 2 goals per game but when your own team can only manage 1 per game...

Neither can you, Mike. Vancouver has the league's best record since Christmas. Luongo carried Florida for a couple of years, and now he's getting a chance to play with a defense in front of him. Lesser goalies have carried lesser teams all the way before. "King" Richard Brodeur, and Kirk McLean have both done it in Vancouver after playing .500 hockey all season in '82 and '94 respectively. Luongo has been on top of his game all season, and if anything, he's playing tougher now. For sure Vancouver has a better shot than Edmonton or Calgary, eh, so let Alberta cry in their beer. It's our turn to party! Go Canucks!
