Are the playoffs less fun without the Leafs? Wed, April 11, 2007
It can't be good for hockey when the Leafs miss the playoffs. It can't be good for hockey when Edmonton is out and Montreal is out. These cities are the lifeblood of the game.
So, now we watch, not certain where to turn. I'm vaguely interested in Vancouver-Dallas because this is Roberto Luongo's playoff debut. Same goes for Calgary-Detroit, mostly to see if the annual Red Wings collapse is upon us.
A playoffs without Toronto won't seem very much like playoffs at all.
Who cares about the Leafs? Unlike other Canadian cities, we have the Raptors, Blue Jays and a number of other top flight professional teams to cheer for. Hockey is overhyped in this city, particularly because the Leafs get so much attention (even when they poorly disguise a rebuilding process this year). So it is nice to see a team like the Raptors be the MLSE team of the hour, and get the recognition they deserve.

"It can't be good for hockey when the Leafs miss the playoffs." That, in one statement, is the problem the rest of the hockey world, and yes one does exist outside of Toronto, has with all things Leafs Blue. The arrogance that the NHL should revolve around a mediocre club. Get over yourselves.

Get over yourself. If you suck as bad as the Leafs did there is no way anyone should shed a tear. The Leafs are not the end all and be all of Canadina hockey. It is about time that leaf fans spot feeling sorry for themselves and under stand that Canadian Hockey is more than the Leafs. Crawl out from the rock your under and embrase the rest on the NHL teams outside of TO.

You would think the leaf fans would get used to them not making the playoffs. Because I can't see them making it for a while. Get used to it.

Toronto not in the playoffs, who cares. Should be used to it by now. Yeah it would be great if all the Canadian teams made it, good for ratings anyway. Toronto blew it again, just saved them from another first round loss, same as Calgary will do again this year

yes a lot better hockey than seeing that jr b squad they call the laffs i mean leafs.were stuck watching that pathetic team every saturday night unfortunately. not me though i would rather watch paint dry..now we can see some real hockey and i am now a hockey fan again that the leafs are out....
