Are the playoffs less fun without the Leafs?
Wed, April 11, 2007

It can't be good for hockey when the Leafs miss the playoffs. It can't be good for hockey when Edmonton is out and Montreal is out. These cities are the lifeblood of the game.

So, now we watch, not certain where to turn. I'm vaguely interested in Vancouver-Dallas because this is Roberto Luongo's playoff debut. Same goes for Calgary-Detroit, mostly to see if the annual Red Wings collapse is upon us.

A playoffs without Toronto won't seem very much like playoffs at all.

Nobody cares if Toronto is in the playoffs. The only people making Toronto the center of the hockey universe are Torontonians and CBC so get over yourselves.

Good riddance! The Leafs didn't deserve to be in the playoffs to begin with and would have been done in four or five in the 1st round anyway.

This should be proof positive to the brass at the top that Ferguson has to go. (Just look across the hall at what the Raptors were able to do with a legitimate GM in place.)

Bob Cole will actually have to learn the names of other teams players. TSN and Sportsnet will actually have to cover other teams. Having the Leaves play golf is the best thing that could have happened.

Ummm...if the Leafs are not the center of the hockey universe as you all seem to claim, why are you spending so much time ripping on them? Love them or hate them, the Leafs attract far more attention and feelings (positive or negative) than any other Canadian team. Put aside your indignation and realize that it is in the interests of the NHL to have the large market teams like Toronto in the playoffs.

I AM SOOO GLAD THOSE EGOMANICS FROM TORONTO ARE NOT IN THE PLAYOFFS. GET OVER YOURSELVES IN THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE(TO)

What do you mean playoffs without the leafs? Hasn't that been the norm lately. No, sorry I'll never miss the leafs. Habs on the other hand. Yeah! I'll miss them.

LEAFS SUCK, who runs this website the CBC? I am glad I don't have to watch them and listen to 2 commentators cheer for them who are being paid by my tax dollars

I am glad that the Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs. I would rather see any team in the NHL make the playoffs besides the Leafs. Every time I turn on Toronto's Sports Network (TSN), the first and most important story is about the Leafs. Every Saturday night, I get to watch the Leafs no matter how good or BAD they are. I think that it is tragic the national media is more focused on the team that didn't make the playoffs as opposed to the ones that did. I am really tired, as I am sure is the rest of Western Canada is, of hearing about Toronto. It puts a smile on my face knowing that I will not have to see another Leafs game until October.

I've never been a LEAFS fan. I'm a HOCKEY fan. The leafs can play good hockey, but they haven't been consistent about it, so they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Still would have liked to see them with a shot, but maybe next year, eh? There'll be plenty of great series to make even the die hard Leafs fans like Steve Simmons forget about their whining: Sens and Sabres rematch, for one (I'm predicting that to be the east final.) Could even see an all-Canadian final between Ottawa and Vancouver. Now there's a Canadian team that gets no respect, but plays good hockey night after night. Every twelve seasons they make a run, and that means they are due again this year. Go Canucks!
Roy, 2007-04-11 16:39:48

Are you kidding me? Do I miss the Leafs? Ha!

Now true hockey fans get to enjoy a talent filled series like Ottawa and Pittsburgh. It's kind of sad that as a canadian, and a hockey fan, I don't want to put up with listening about the Leafs. The rest of Canada doesn't need to hear about the Leafs non-stop. Everybody on the CBC is a Leafs fan and I find that annoying. Why does the rest of the hockey world need to be put on hold because Mats hurt himself?

Go Canucks Go!
