Are the playoffs less fun without the Leafs?
Wed, April 11, 2007

It can't be good for hockey when the Leafs miss the playoffs. It can't be good for hockey when Edmonton is out and Montreal is out. These cities are the lifeblood of the game.

So, now we watch, not certain where to turn. I'm vaguely interested in Vancouver-Dallas because this is Roberto Luongo's playoff debut. Same goes for Calgary-Detroit, mostly to see if the annual Red Wings collapse is upon us.

A playoffs without Toronto won't seem very much like playoffs at all.

Where does the media get off thinking the sun rises and falls on the leafs? They're responsible for making Toronto the most hated team in hockey. Geez, the bums didn't make the playoffs and they're STILL headline news?

They ice a crap team every year because they know there's 20,000 idiots that will pay to watch them every night so don't pi$$ and moan to the world because you're a moron that's been had for the last 40 years....oops....41

Wonderful, A Saturday night in front of TV and not watch the Leafs. I can watch hockey again.

There is a God!!

To be honest, I find it hard to root for the Leafs these days. It seems that no one on the team or in the management really cares much if they make the playoffs. Win or lose, fans show up and fill the seats. They make money and that's the bottom line for them. Aside from Sundin, there is no real talent on the team and every year they make poor trades to get old, washed-up players to join their ranks instead of developing the players in the minors. I doubt they'll ever see a Stanley Cup again if they continue as they are.

I'm happy to see the centre of the universe is golfing today. However, I do feel sorry for Leafs fans because they try so hard to find great things about their franchise that they go as far as retiring Gilmour's number. Man, that's pathetic. I'm a Flames a fans and HE won a cup with us and we still won't retire his number... besides, I don't think his former babysitter would like that.

Good riddance indeed. There are way more better teams. At least now as well, except for this article, we don't have to hear about every little thing that the Leafs did right or wrong in their game. It will also be a relief not to have to listen to all the leaf banter on HNIC. The Leafs have to many games broadcast through out the year, on HNIC that one gets sick of them and would like to see them never get into the playoffs. It would not hurt to see more Ottawa and Habs games especially since they are always more enjoyable to watch, maybe then one could actually put up with all the Leaf love from the Broadcasters in the playoffs. Sometimes one would never know that there are 5 other teams in this country, cause the only people that care about the Leafs live in and around Toronto, and when they did not make it in, the rest of the country did not give it a second thought. Thankfully we do not have to see another boring Leafs game until fall.

Yawn. Who cares?

Maybe we can finally get some balanced reporting from "T"oronto "S"ports "N"etwork.

YES!! I have always loved the Leafs and always will. I am devastated that they are not in the playoffs. The only consolation is that they took Montreal out. I might cheer on Calgary or Vancouver but never Ottawa. At least I can still drive my blue Honda with my leafs license plate with #13 on it.

Ahhh ... spring is really here. The Leafs are out! Here's hoping Toronto doesn't see another Stanley Cup for at least another 40 years.

Oh get over it. I have never seen so much coverage on this site of a team that didn't make it to the playoffs. What especially irks me is that I have to drill down to the scoreboard section to get a recap of the previous day's Sens game.

Though I feel for the Leafs because I believe they are a genuinely good team with lots of grit and heart, I have no sympathy for the boorish, arrogant Leaf fans!

GO SENS GO!
