Are the playoffs less fun without the Leafs?
Wed, April 11, 2007

It can't be good for hockey when the Leafs miss the playoffs. It can't be good for hockey when Edmonton is out and Montreal is out. These cities are the lifeblood of the game.

So, now we watch, not certain where to turn. I'm vaguely interested in Vancouver-Dallas because this is Roberto Luongo's playoff debut. Same goes for Calgary-Detroit, mostly to see if the annual Red Wings collapse is upon us.

A playoffs without Toronto won't seem very much like playoffs at all.

I miss Toronto not being in the playoffs. But, they never win the Cup anyways, so it's no great loss.

Ottawa is now representing Canada in the final, so there is a bit of consolation.

All of you hockey fans of other Canadian teams --- get a life! This poll was intended for TORONTO fans. Know why there is so much coverage on the Leafs? Because every time the Leafs play in your building, there are roughly 3,000 or more Leaf fans helping to sell out your arenas (which are normally empty seats if it was the Blue Jackets or Devils playing). There are Leaf fans in every inch of this country (not to mention a good Toronto-born player on every team), so be quiet and live with it.

the leafs just may be a team that cant win a stanley cup but first maurice has got to go

Miss the Leafs...no....now perhaps..even though it's a long shot....TSN(Toronto Sports Network)and Sportsnet will recognize that there are other Canadian teams in the NHL..no more coverage of Leaf Practices, no reporting on Paul Maurice's utterings,no more profiles on individual Leaf players...life is good...may there be an all Canadian Stanley Cup Final...and just maybe, the Toronto Centric so-called sport networks may recognize how truly parochial they really are.

My my my. Sure sounds like a lot of jealousy and bitterness from a lot of people over the fact that Toronto has such a dedicated fan base across all of Canada. Face it. All shows (including CBC and TSN) cater to their fan base which happens to be Toronto fans in far greater numbers than your teams fans. Don't believe it? Look at the ratings of the Islanders-Devils game last weekend and tell me that Toronto hockey fans aren't the largest in terms of numbers and spread out over the entire country, not just in Toronto. The numbers don't lie - when Toronto is on the TV the numbers are so much higher than when ANY other Canadian team is on. Rather than getting on a site like this and blathering on mindlessly about how you are sick of watching Toronto, realize it is only good business for the CBC and TSN to tailor there shows to their largest market - Leaf Fans!!

This just another sound board to give jealous Leaf haters a chance to beak off. There are Leaf fans all over the world. It doesn't matter if they don't make the playoffs Leaf fans will always have a deep love for their team that runs deep and will never go away. They don't comprehend Leaf fans so they resort to name calling similiar to children in a playground. They just don't get it.

Out west all we get even more than our own teams is the Leafs, on TV and the sports news, even when their out of the playoffs we get news about the leafs, glad we'll have a month without them coming up or at least a couple of days, tired of the leafs saga......

The author is obviously looking for attention with this kind of article.

Watching the Leafs play is like watching UFC. You don't watch it/them for grace and beauty - the game last night with Ott vs Pitts it the kind of hockey that I like. Skill, speed and no whining ala Leaf style.

The leafs are a dinosaur of a team in the new NHL and they should wake up and smell the coffee if they want to compete.

They are out because they can't compete. They were in control of their destiny and they chose not to be in the playoffs. Plain and simple.

And on another note, I believe they are the only team that can't spell either. The school I went to had the plural of leaf as Leaves. Most Toronto fans obviously can't spell either as they think this is okay.

Wake up Canada. The Leafs are not Canada's team. Most Leaf fans were not even alive when they last won the cup...give me a break. Leaf fans must be the most ignorant fans in the league. Why do they keep supporting them in their long losing history. If people stopped going to their games, maybe management/owners will finally wake up and do something about it. Even if they do finally win the big one, which won't happen in my lifetime, it still won't make me a fan. I am smarter than that.

Miss the leafs in the playoffs? Like hemorroids at the dentist.
