What do you think about Saskin's firing?
Thu, May 10, 2007

Ted Saskin's tenure as head of the NHL Players' Association officially ended Thursday with a pink slip.

The NHLPA's executive board, made up of 30 player-reps plus the six-member interim executive committee, voted unanimously via conference call Thursday to fire the suspended executive director.

Do you agree with the board's decision? Have your say in our forum.

Saskin is a crook, just like

Goodenow and Eagleson. It's an absolute joke that he's still in his position. Linden

is a phony too, and is as much to blame as anyone in this matter.

This guy is brave, I have to admit. How many times can he blame somebody else for something that has gone wrong? He's starting to make Eagleson look like an upstanding citizen. I bet the players wish they had goodenow back now.

There is certainly no confidence from the membership. I often wonder what has taken so long to excercise the members right and remove this guy from there, do what the NHLPA consitition calls for, a proper democratic election.

He took over the position with a phoney election. He has brought nothing but problems to the NHLPA and should resign because he no longer has majority support of the membership. Furthermore, if charges are laid then he should resign.

He should never have taken the position without an open and sanctioned vote of the entire association. If e-mail interference has occurred, I don't see how he can continue. Even without the e-mail controversy, he should negotiate a resignation as soon as possible and allow the players to choose a new leader in a proper manner.

Saskin negotiated the worst CBA in history and is not Goodenough for the players. If I was a Bettingman, I'd love him.
