What do you think about Saskin's firing?
Thu, May 10, 2007

Ted Saskin's tenure as head of the NHL Players' Association officially ended Thursday with a pink slip.

The NHLPA's executive board, made up of 30 player-reps plus the six-member interim executive committee, voted unanimously via conference call Thursday to fire the suspended executive director.

Do you agree with the board's decision? Have your say in our forum.

Greedy man in league with greedy men, representing greedy people.

All of hockey needs a change. Its not as popular as they think.

Who cares? Last time I checked all these clowns made more than me.

There was probably no other choice, but the Association left Mr. Saskin to hang out to dry with much speculation about wrongdoing and allegations without offering any substantiation. Mr. Saskin should have been offered an opportunity to resign or settle rather than have his name associated with all types of wrongdoing. If there was no just cause to terminate him, I hope that he takes legal action at least to rectify the shoddy manner in which he was left to be dismissed.

Saskin should be introduced to Simon's Tomahawk Chop...oooooooooooo...oooooo.oooooooooooooooooooooo

Put the shoe on the other foot. If he were to be restored to his position as Exec.Dir. what moves would he ever make that would be trusted. An old saying, "if he does it to you once; he'll may do it again..."

For the sake of the union, Saskin needs to be replaced with someone with unquestioned integrity, and the total respect of the players and owners. Would someone please call Steve Yzerman?!? He can surround himself with whatever lawyers and businessmen he needs.

Yes he should!!! Maybe he can take Bettman with him and maybe Hockey will be a big 4 Sport again.
Chris Meehan, 2007-03-12 16:25:14

Maybe he should ask Gary Bettmen. It seems like he is really working for Gary and not the players. Gretzky and Lemieux tried to resolve the lockout, but were surprised at how far apart the two sides were. Aren't they owners?

No one yet understands how the deal went from one extreme to the other.

Yes I think Saskin should resign but I dont think he will. If he did resign he would lose his income. I think he said that it was Goodenow that was monitoring the players emails as a way to cloud his situation. I agree with Trent Klatt that all the players should have had a vote on who was going to replace Goodenow. I think its time to bring in a former player to run the P.A. someone who is recently retired. This wont happen but I think someone like a Mark Messier would be a great choice.
