Do you agree with ex-Blue Jay Shea Hillenbrand's comments? Thu, February 22, 2007
Shea Hillenbrand says he is a competitor, and not a "yes" person.
While Hillenbrand himself can be blunt, he paints a picture of Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi as being equally outspoken. And very controlling.
"J.P. tried to bury me," Hillenbrand said. "J.P. will deny it, but he told my agent, Dan Lozano, they'd bury me ... keep cutting down on my playing time, unless I got in line."
Should he have toed the line in the Jays clubhouse for the good of the team? Tell us what you think by having your say in our forum.
Looks like J.P. Didn't work hard enough to bury this CRY BABY!Hi Uncle Cril!

We all have to work for somebody. There are days when we all have to just shut up and do our job. Why do we expect differently from millionaires who swing a stick and wear a piece of cow on one hand?

The Jays knew about Shea's personality before all this happened. Did management ever pull him aside for a man to man talk ? Egos got in the way across the board

I don't doubt that Hillenbrand is at least telling some of the truth. But the fact of the matter is he shouldn't be airing this garbage in a public forum. All it does is show the world how childish he really is. Keep in mind the Red Sox ditched him for his personality - the same team that puts up with Manny Ramirez!

You wonder if there is an element of truth in what he says about Riccardi. Is J.P. a "straight shooter" or a master og putting the blame on others. Shea sticking up for Gibbons in the Rios story is pretty revealing.

Shea, Although I liked to see him in a Jays uniform for his timely hitting, seems to be a whiner and trouble maker. The jays do not need people on the team doubting the direction and Mgmt of the team in a public forum. That's what fans are for. Players are paid to play and play well. So long and goodbye!
