Two more Hall of Shame candidates
By GARETH WHEELER, SUN MEDIA
The compelling part of David Ortiz/Manny Ramirez reported performance-enhancing drug (PED) use won't reveal itself in the coming days, weeks or even months.
It's going to come in the decision baseball Hall of Fame voter's will make; do PED users prior and after drug testing in Major League Baseball make it into the Hall of Fame? And, what's to be done about suspected users who never were busted? MLB's failure to have proper drug testing during the late 80's, 90's and into this decade has tainted the entire era.
So how do voters truly disseminate between those who were clean and those who weren't? Whether it's fair or not, every player during the era automatically should be questioned whether they were clean, and MLB and its players' union can blame nobody but themselves.
Voters need to take a stand; either let all players in, regardless of suspicion or positive results, or let no player in from the 'Steroid Era' -- period.
Letting all deserving players into Cooperstown, regardless of drug-use, would truly shine a light on MLB's failure to govern their game properly.
How can Jim Balsillie, whose wonderful creation, the BlackBerry, that brings joy to so many, be deemed to be lacking good character and integrity? The guy gives us smiley faces when receiving messages. He can't be evil.
Toronto no class
Toronto FC charging fans $15 to watch an open practice before the Real Madrid friendly is insulting. Once again, an opportunity to make a good gesture to season ticket holders and casual fans goes to waste.
Soccer is a game about passion and soul -- moves like this take all that out of the game.
The description on Terrell Owens new cereal box should read: Made from 100% authentic hot air. May cause inflation of ego or cases of the 'drops'. Expires after one season. Still better than Chunky Soup (take that Donovan McNabb).
A Daly grind
Speaking of dude's with reality shows; hasn't John Daly's life already been revealed in many ways, shapes and forms on the Jerry Springer show?
