Simply Super

What a super weekend of "bowling."

Sunday's Super Bowl XLII delivered everything any sports fan craves in a big game. And for yours truly, it was extra sweet. (See Thursday's column.)

A championship game decided in the final two minutes is almost as satisfying as it gets. But isn't it sweeter when the underdog beats the big, bad perfectionists?

The Giants' huge upset was one for the ages.

But, more than making history, you've just got to love how quarterback Eli Manning and head coach Tom Coughlin made their critics (among them the vocal and retired Giant star-turned-"The Today-Show"-correspondent Tiki Barber) eat crow -- Giant crow.

On Saturday, it was bowling of a different kind, the conventional kind.

I spent the day at Thornecliff Bowlerama kicking off an event called Bowl for Kids Sake.

Yes, I pulled out the Fred-Flintstone-twinkle-toes form, proving once again how I should really just stick to my day job.

The goal of Saturday's media and corporate challenge was to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. We were asked to spread the word to you. If you can't get out to bowl during the next few weeks, log on to BBBST.com and make a donation.

I know that charity bowling isn't typically a topic for "Sidelines," but in this case we make an exception because with this "super bowling" event, you can certainly become a "Giant" in your community.
