Leafs in the doghouse

True story: Scampering along the sidewalk Monday morning was a dog wearing a Maple Leafs sweater.

a) A dog in a Leafs jersey ... does that seem fitting?

b) Is this animal cruelty?

Raise an issue

Shaun Marcum was paid $405,200 in 2009 as he recovered from surgery.

For 2010, the Blue Jays pitcher has received a 109% raise of $444,800.

Hey, wait a minute, he didn’t even work last year.

I say he should sit out 2010 and demand $1.5 million in 2011.

Trash talk

Forget the debate over when Tiger Woods might return to the PGA Tour.

The one event I’m looking forward to is Feb. 25-28: The Waste Management Phoenix Open.

John Daly should be favoured considering how he already has taken care of his waist management.

Meantime, the San Diego Open, formerly the Buick Invitational, has found a sponsor.

When it begins Jan. 28, the tournament will be known as the Farmers Insurance Open.

Apparently, they’re looking for a cow pasture to play it on.

Where’s Woods?

The guessing game continues as to Tiger Woods’ whereabouts.

Last week he was supposedly in New York and/or South Africa — at the latter site taking sex-addiction classes at a clinic.

Latest rumour: The hot scorer is allegedly being treated for sex addition at Pine Grove Behavioural Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Miss.

It is expected that Tiger will return to golf soon after getting his putter realigned.

You’re invited

Feel like getting closer to Tiger Woods?

How about attending Rachel Uchitel’s 35th birthday party?

Uchitel, one of the girls on serial-dater Woods’ list, is having a party on Jan. 29 in Palm Beach, Fla., and the public is invited.

The bash is being held at 251PB — a trendy lounge, we’re told. There will be no cover charge — and probably no Tiger, either. But maybe Elin Nordegren will show up with a wedge and take some divots.

Pricey pig

A store in London is selling exquisitely prepared 15-pound hams for close to $3,000.

Pound for pound, that’s the priciest ham since Chad Ochocinco.

Say what?

Andy Roddick’s cheering section at Grand Slams often includes a supermodel, his wife Brooklyn Decker. It now features a diva.”

Chris Chase of Yahoo Sports, writing about Terrell Owens’ appearance at the Australian Open this week to cheer on his buddy, Roddick.

Rumour du jour

There is speculation that Chan Gailey is the leading candidate for the Buffalo Bills head coaching job.

A long-time offensive co-ordinator in the NFL, Gailey is also a former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

As for his unusual first name: The 58-year-old was born Thomas Chandler Gailey Jr.
