The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is increasing its clout as the majority owner of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd.

In related news yesterday, depression clinics reported long lineups of people dressed in blue and white.

The teachers are buying CTVglobemedia's 7.7% share, giving them 66% ownership of MLSEL.

The company will be renamed Maple Leaf Schools and Education Ltd., and pension plan officials warn that not just teachers, but all of us, will be on old-age security before the Leafs again challenge for a Stanley Cup.

Mr. Woods' neighbourhood

The time is right to move into Tiger Woods' neighbourhood.

You could hang around with Vince Carter and Shaquille O'Neal, too.

At least 45 of the 300 mansions in Isleworth are for sale, and at least one has gone to auction thanks to a depressed market, Beth Kassab of the Orlando Sentinel writes.

Among those with houses for sale are in the prestigious, gated Orlando neighbourhood: Grant Hill, Mark O'Meara, Stuart Appleby and Ryan Longwell.

Hill, who has two homes in Isleworth, is asking $5.9 million for the smaller one -- but it has been on the market for more than a year, so you might be able to low-ball him. The Phoenix Suns veteran is keeping his 16,000 square-foot shack.

You might consider snapping up O'Meara's 3,497-square-foot home for $2 million.

Fellow golfer Appleby is trying to sell one of his three Isleworth homes.

Woods owns two Isleworth homes, but he also is building a new house on a $44.5-million, 12-acre spread he bought on Jupiter Island on Florida's Atlantic Coast.

Certainly, Isleworth has cashed in on Woods' cachet.

If Tiger were to abandon his old 'hood, might it become Isleworthless?

No hogwash

Three members of the Nippon Ham Fighters baseball team are suffering from swine flu.

Hopefully they will be cured soon.

Confirm or deny

NHL governors considered Jim Balsillie an unsuitable candidate as an owner long before RimJim's side-door bid for the Phoenix Coyotes.

The final straw was Mr. BlabBerry, er BlackBerry, being blamed for leaking news in November 2008 of the Montreal Canadiens being for sale.

Playing hurt

How tough was the newly retired Jeremy Roenick?

"I'll always remember (a game in which) he broke his jaw and broke his thumb on the exact same play and then played three more shifts," captain Shane Doan tells phoenixcoyotes.com.

"Blood was running out of his mouth and he played three more shifts before saying, 'OK, I can't do this.' Few things wow me as a player, but those three shifts he played, I have no idea how he did it."
