Followers of the Blue Jays and Jim Balsillie have had more ups and downs lately than the Tower of Terror ride at Disney World.
One week Balsillie looks like a serious contender for the Phoenix/Hamilton Coyotes, the next a stickhandling solicitor shoves him back on the bench.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays take the express elevator for their penthouse-to-outhouse ride in the AL East.
Then comes the Roy Halladay roller-coaster and the Alex Rios giveaway. Suddenly, that allusion about the Jays competing in 2010 looks more like delusion.
Take heart Jays fans, maybe 31-year-old DH Randy Ruiz, now with his 11th MLB organization, will be the saviour.
On Rogers cable?
A new TV show starts next month called Bored to Death.
I know what you're thinking, but it's actually a comedy on HBO, not a Blue Jays game on Sportsnet.
Tiger vision
Tiger Woods -- he can't possibly lose another major, can he? -- will be front and centre as the PGA Championship begins today. However, not all golf fans appreciate the Tiger over exposure. One would have to agree: Tiger gets more air time than Kelsey Grammer in reruns.
Passing shot
Nice effort by Frederic Niemeyer in his match against Roger Federer at the Rogers Cup, despite falling 7-6, 6-4.
Niemeyer loses points for wardrobe, though: White shirt with red markings, black shorts, black socks and electric blue shoes. Definitely a foot fault, Frederic.
Raccoon hunting
Okay, this is a borderline sport, but after scraping bits of organic waste off the curb for the second consecutive week, I'm looking for funding to develop a raccoon trap that resembles a green bin.
