Burke like a bull in china shop

Brian Burke, an all-American, in-your-face fella, has spent time in Sweden, leading up to the Fourth of July.

Hmm, the bellicose Burke amid the serene Swedes -- it just doesn't seem like a good fit. Sort of like a guy selling firecrackers at a gas bar.

Comes with baggage

At 220 pounds, Colton Orr isn't just a horse, he's a clothes horse.

The new Maple Leafs winger has a clothing line called, fittingly enough, The Enforcer. It features T-shirts with three different crests: A skull and wings; a Viking skull (no, not Brett Favre's); and an eagle.

So, if you're an enforcer, it seems like just the thing to have pulled over your head at your next fight.

Cousins, kinda

It was a big day for A-Rod.

The other A-Rod.

Tennis player Andy Roddick yesterday advanced to the men's final at Wimbledon, where he is still the REAL A-Rod, not that New York Yankees interloper.

Turns out, though, the two A-Rods have a taste in music that dates to the same era.

Alex Rodriguez has a thing for Madonna, while Roddick favours Rick Astley.

Yeah, I know, I cringed too.

Roddick has adopted Astley's 1987 song, Never Gonna Give You Up, as his Wimbo theme song.

Says Roddick: "I'm not proud but I'm not going to lie to anybody."

Sadly, it's working.

As Astley sings, "We know the game and we're gonna play it."

Yech.

Whiff of success

Leave it to the Blue Jays to put the "out" in outfield.

It's no secret that the Blue Jays outfielders haven't been particularly crisp at the plate.

Vernon Wells and Alex Rios, in particular, have transformed themselves from studs to duds.

Coincidentally, each of the big-money, small-production duo drove in a run yesterday in a 4-2 loss to the New York Yankees.

Was it just a coincidence they had been demoted to sixth and seventh in the batting order ... a long overdue move?

Site to behold

A new social networking site has been established, this one for amateur athletes, at timu.com.

So, now, in your spare time, on top of facebooking and twittering, you also can gab about your favourite activity and share photos and videos.

There are 30 or so sports listed on the site, including ultimate frisbee and unicycling. The beauty with the latter sport is that you can post and ride at the same time.

Woods and irons

Tiger Woods has surged into the lead through two rounds at the AT&T National.

No surprise, really.

After all, doesn't the name of the tournament stand for All Tiger all the Time?
