Nothing funny about this Hilton
While Caster Semenya is being put through sex-test hoops, Leafs' Brian Burke works on dentistry degree

Good morning, Davey Hilton Jr.

Way to perpetuate that perception of "boxer" being a synonym for "Neanderthal bully".

The former world champ from Montreal has been charged with assault.

It's the fourth time in two years his ex-girlfriend has filed charges.

There was Raging Bull and then there's just plain bull. Guess where you fit in.

Girl talk

The body governing international track is consulting a gyneciologist, an endocrinologist, a psychologist, an internal medicine specialist and a gender expert to determine whether Caster Semenya, the 800-metre winner at the world championships, is a woman or a man.

They're talking to the wrong people. All they really need to do is find someone Semenya has dated.

If Semenya is a woman she'll have spent two days deciding what to wear, changed her mind half a dozen times, ended up with half her wardrobe lying on her bed, spent half a day getting her hair done, and then still left her date waiting 45 minutes .

If Semenya is a man he's showered, dressed and ready in 15 minutes. And the only pants he's concerned about are the ones he'll be trying to get his date out of.

Tooth & consequences

Last week, Leafs general manager Brian Burke stated his surprise that draft pick Nazem Kadri would play with the junior London Knights in a tournament.

Monday it was announced Kadri couldn't compete because he's having wisdom teeth removed.

Phone call for Dr. Yankem. Mr. Burke on line one? Actually, there is no word on who set up that dental appointment. But the timing is certainly, uhmmm, convenient. And interesting.

George Steinbrenner High School opened for the first time yesterday in Lutz, Fla.

Writes Dwight Perry of the Seattle Times: "School officials plan to kick off the school year in style, signing a free-agent chemistry teacher to a $10 million deal and firing the baseball coach."

Cowabunga

The Sports Ministry in India has refused to endorse the Formula One race proposed for Delhi in 2011 as a sports event.

The ministry noted F-1 is entertainment, not sport, and would not have an impact on Indians "in terms of either participation, broad-basing or promotion of excellence."

In other words, it just isn't cricket.

Bye buy?

Jim Balsillie has filed a new bid to buy the Phoenix Coyotes that would allow him to walk away if all contentious issues aren't resolved to his satisfaction.

Sounds like someone is getting ready to take his puck and go home.

Lapping it up

Philadelphia teammates say they've been impressed with Michael Vick.

Since his first day with the Eagles he has stayed late to work with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

Nice to hear that he's not dogging it.
