High hopes for hoops in Oshawa
By MORRIS DALLA COSTA, QMI Agency
TORONTO - Oshawa Power's head coach Mark Strickland believes the National Basketball League of Canada came to the right place when it came to Oshawa.
Strickland was just recently named to the NBL franchise. The Power is one of seven teams that form the first Canada only basketball league.
"This is a great opportunity for Oshawa and I think it will be just fine," he said at Sunday's NBL Canada's first draft.
"I've played in the minor leagues in basketball and the location for this team is great. It's close to Toronto, not stuck out in the middle of nowhere."
The Power is one of two Ontario teams with London Lightning the other.
The Power will play out of General Motors Centre.
