The Gonzaga Bulldogs are just another team at the NCAA tournament this year — and Kevin Pangos is just fine with that.

The third-year starting point guard from Holland Landing, Ont., enters March Madness in a much different situation than at this time last year, when his perennial mid-major powerhouse got a No. 1 seed in its region.

In a surprise to few, the Bulldogs are making their 16th consecutive appearance at the tournament after winning the West Coast Conference title. Only three schools — Kansas (25 straight years), Duke (19) and Michigan State (17) — are on longer active tournament appearance streaks.

But this time, the Bulldogs (28-6) are only a No. 8 seed in the West Region — and expectations, at least from the outside, are far lower.

“It feels like we’re kind of flying under the radar,” Pangos said.
