If Nik Stauskas’ professor at the University of Michigan has even a passing interest in basketball, the guard from Mississauga is sure to get an extension on a big assignment.

Stauskas, who told TSN before an Elite Eight showdown against Florida that he has a seven-page paper due Monday, will be the big man on campus this week in Ann Arbor after putting on a shooting clinic Sunday.

The freshman nailed all six of his three-point attempts and finished with a game-high 22 points as the Wolverines pasted the Gators 79-59 in the South Region final at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Tex.

After an impressive season in which he shot 43% from beyond the arc, the 6-foot-6 Stauskas went cold early in March Madness, hitting just 2-of-12 three-pointers in his first three games. Clearly, that didn’t rattle his confidence.

“I just understood that I haven’t had a game like this in a while,” Stauskas said.
