TORONTO - #1 Kansas vs. #11 VCU
Play-in Cinderella VCU has been one of the stories of this tournament, but the fairy tale ends here. Kansas arguably is the most talented team in college basketball and is favoured by a whopping 11 points. It;s rare to see a double-digit spread in the Elite Eight but Kansas has won its tourney games by almost 18 points on average
VCU was winning by a similar margin before squeaking by a better opponent Florida State by a point in overtime.
The Morris twins should overwhelm VCUs frontline at both ends of the court and the Jayhawks guard against the three better than most.
This could be a 20-point blowout.
#2 North Carolina #4 Kentucky
North Carolina can catch the Wildcats for most wins in tournament history (106) with a victory.
This should be a beauty. Nobody has had an answer for UNCs frontcourt of Tyler Zeller, John Henson and Harrison Barnes but Kentucky matches up better than most opponents thanks to its athleticism and the bulk of Josh Harreellson.
The point guard battle of tourney star Brandon Knight against steady Kendall Marshall will be a key one.
The Tar Heels beat Kentucky at home by a basket back in early December but Kentucky is favoured by one this time.
However, Carolina will prevail again thanks to the defensive work of Henson and Zeller.
