Charlotte took advantage of one of the great collapses in NCAA history Thursday afternoon after a late Richmond meltdown saw Charlotte make eight free throws in the final five seconds to earn an improbable, come-from-behind 68-63 victory over Richmond on Thursday in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament.

The Spiders led 63-60 with five seconds to play, and opted to foul Pierra Henry instead of allowing an attempt at a game-tying three-pointer. After Henry made the first attempt, Richmond’s Derrick Williams was called for a technical foul.
