TORONTO - Whereas early on, players found being a member of the Raptors as a novelty, an interesting, short-term experience in a foreign country, now there is a sense of belonging, a brotherhood of sorts.

That again became readily apparent Thursday night, when the team’s top three players gathered to support president/general manager Masai Ujiri’s fundraiser for the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Ujiri’s Giants of Africa organization.

Kyle Lowry, a free agent come July 1st, flew up with his wife from Philadelphia, DeMar DeRozan (with his fiancee) and Amir Johnson, came from Los Angeles to be a part of the evening.

“It’s fantastic. Those guys are very supportive and they take on everything, they were talking about it like it was their event,” Ujiri said. “We are a family and I love those guys, I appreciate that they would do that for me.
