TORONTO - Obstacles are part of everyone’s life.

We encounter them, we deal with them and we move past them ... hopefully.

Adreian Payne has had to deal with a few more obstacles than most.

The 6-foot-10 forward out of Michigan State with the 7-foot-4 wingspan was in Toronto yesterday along with five others as the Raptors continued an extensive draft workout process that still has at least two more sessions in it.

Payne, according to multiple mock drafts, is projected to be a first-round pick in and around the No. 20 selection where the Raptors happen to sit.

Only the Raptors, and maybe only Masai Ujiri at this point, have an idea how they are going to use that pick but Payne would at least have to be on the list of potentials depending on how the draft falls.

But it’s Payne’s story of just getting to this point that is both stunning and inspirational.
