NEW YORK - Get ready for Raptors versus Nets, a slow-it-down, half-court Brooklyn team dotted with aging future hall of famers pitted against a young and athletic Toronto side.

Ultimately, the opening round, which will begin in Hogtown on Saturday, will be decided by coaching, an area Dwane Casey clearly has the edge over rookie head coach Jason Kidd.

The two won a title together in Dallas, where Casey basically came up with a defence that disguised Kidd’s deficiencies.

If allowed to get out in the open floor, the Raptors have a chance, even though the odds are in Brooklyn’s favour given the presence of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Last time Toronto won the Atlantic Division, it ended up playing Kidd’s Nets, the crafty point guard that is, a team with Vince Carter riding shotgun.

It went New Jersey’s way in six games when Jose Calderon and Chris Bosh botched a late-game play.
